[turboSIM][3G] Is it necessary to jailbreak?
My iPhone 3G was activated using the AT&T card that came along with the phone (I think my statement is correct). I insert the turboSIM and I am able to make a call, but I don't know whether or not I will be able to use EDGE. I don't really think that I will use installer nor cydia. So, is it necessary to jailbreak it or just leave it as it is? Any comment and information are highly appreciated! Thanks.
Added:
I just noticed that I need to take out the SIM in order to sync the phone to iTunes. If I jailbreak it, would it help?

If you don't care about the installer/"hack" things, you don't need to jailbreak it.(as long as you did activation already).
Because Jrbrking purpose for activation and "hack" things.
I have 3G with "magic sim" too, I use to do the same like yours but recently, I "turn ON" the airplane mode, it'll be message "No Sim", syn with itunes/ whatever, after you done with itunes, "Turn Off" the airplane mode, Turn Off the iPhone ( push the POWER BUTTON(reboot), turn the power on, then will be ready to use again
. Im sure 99.9% worked. ( I did it all the time )
Good Luck
* Just make sure Do NOT by accident update the Firmware to 2.2!!
The software unlock by Dev Team(TM)will be around Christmas eve.(THAT IS FOR THE 2.1 FIRMWARE WITH THE ORIGINAL BASEBAND). For the 2.2? forget about it!
