Default [Turbo SIM] clones and non US 1.1.2, beware !

As reported in another thread, if you cannot set the IMSI on your SIM proxy (Hyper SIM, Stealth SIM and so on) either through a SIM Toolkit menu or by pairing it with another SIM card, it's very likely that the proxy uses an hard coded AT&T IMSI, and thus will only be able to unlock an iPhone bought in the US

No problems with the Turbo SIM of course, since you set the fake IMSI yourself

stealth sim website says that their product can unlock iPhones from US and Europe as well, I'm not worried about it 'cos mine is a US one, but I'm just wondering if they tell the truth

If they only distribute one version of the SIM, they probably didn't test it on other phones

    Default can't agree with you

so far as I know, there are two other this kind of providers in China that make the same product, they call it "sim patch", many of the o.b.t 1.1.2 phones are sold in China with this sim patch installed, without any issues reported so far. The only disadvantage is the patch itself may sometimes stuck in the card slot and this is troubsome.

People who made the sim patch claim that the iphone checks the AT&T sim card twice (and that's all) after booting, so they patched a clip that can fake the AT&T message to the iphone for two times after booting and afterwards it will give the cell network the true information (your own sim card) from the third time and that's why you can use it with any GSM network.

Condition is that you will have to activate your iphone by hacking it.

Oh but we are definitely agreeing since you're describing the standard bug exploited

My point is that if you buy a non US iPhone (locked to O2 or Orange or ...) and feed it with an AT&T IMSI, it won't work. So this SIM patch is unlikely to work with such a phone. It works only because the OOTB 1.1.2 phones you buy in China come from the US market.

But if you insert a T mobile Iphone related card in a US Phone you can use it . So it is not locked to the provider only locked to the providers who sells the Iphone!

Which was precisely the point of the original poster.

The phone is "locked to the provider who sells the Iphone" (in the case of phones originally sold in the US = AT&T). The Turbo/Hyper/StealthSIM etc. fakes an AT&T card, so "you insert a T mobile Iphone related card [I assume you mean a T-Mobile SIM] in a US Phone you can use it".

But, say, in the UK "locked to the provider who sells the Iphone" means locked to O2. The Hyper/StealthSIM etc. still fakes an AT&T card, which won't do you any good when the iPhone expects an O2 card. The TurboSIM you can reprogram to fake an O2 card instead and you're good to go again.

I think Big O wanted to say the absolut opposite of the poster!

Big O means: If you put insert a T-Mobile (Germany) SIM into a OTB US Phone you can use it.

So maybe it also works the other way: take a German OTB Phone, copy the info of an ATT Card on the Turbo SIM clone (MagicSim, Stealth sim,..) and have fun....

    someone should try
