did anybody hear about the "SIM-Salabim" card? They say it is not Hypercard, Stealthsim, Turbosim etc. But they are out of stock, so I do not believe...

I'm still thinking about this problem. I have an UK O2 1.1.2 OTB here and I'm waiting for a magicsim.

please correct me if i'm wrong:

You need to read out the ICCID and the IMSI from your Card.

but thats only possible with the ATT cards and not with the O2 UK and T-Mobile germay SIMs as they are V3 cards.

what if we take this information from old, pre umts cards from O2 or t-Mobile? as the information is just needed to trick the iphone it should not matter if the card is even unactive?

On the StealthSim website they make it very clear that you can use it with any 1.1.2 phone regardless where you bought it:

Stealth SIM is the only product which allows you to unlock all releases of the Iphone, including European and North American version 1.1.2 OTB ( bootloader 4.6) phones.
    Is that NOT true?

If you buy an AT&T phone the 'sim proxy' needs to be programmed to send that IMSI. A proxy programmed for AT&T won't work on O2 for example, because an O2 phone is expecting an O2 IMSI.

    - Some proxy's allow you to program the IMSI and ICC in, so you can set it to work with any operator's iphone (turbosim).
    - Some use a fixed IMSI + ICCID which is really bad, because it could be blacklisted on itunes without much effort (some of the newer ones coming out).
    - Others seem to determine it automatically - which is what your talking about here i think.

At the end of the day its upto you.. The first and last category are risk free. The second i wouldnt risk. i have no affiliation to any of these people, but it just makes technical sense.

There have been reports of it working with the UK iphones and the ATT ones. I would look into more of the forum posts if I were you to ensure someone else has had success. O and if at first you dont succeed when you get it keep trying it or like 30 mins, or cut a bit more of your sim, only a handful get the sim to work on there first try.

Does anyone know how the stealthsim works? I am not teribly sure how the handshake between the sim and the phone would work in general. Anyone know of a good place to learn about how sim's and phones work together?

Default A warning about Stealth Sim

hello all, long time reader, thought get off my but and register because i think people need to know about Stealth Sim.

I've had one for a week and a half now and it is no long-term solution.

It is very prone to moving around inside the sim slot, and requires a lot of force to eject the SIM tray and re-position the Stealth Sim. I can't see it lasting more than a few months, hopefully there will be a software unlock before I break anything on my iPhone permanently.

    @s3ntin3l
agreed, but i refered to the thread title. There is no "beware". You definetly can use SthealthSim with european models, I used different sims from different countries (1 US, 3 Germany) , no problems. So were talking about general issues here I think the thread title is wrong and confusing.

Like mentioned in last post I think had a mechanical problem with getting the SIM pair in the slot. I unlocked a phone for a friend (a true end user ) and he was worried as he saw me pressing the cards in.
He uses different sims because of traveling btw Europe and US, this is definetely not possible because its a pain in the a** to change simcards.
My guess its the same problem with TurboSim.
    Is it?

So stealthSim is an automated recognition tool, that will never need any re-programming?
How does it 'know' what Sim to emulate?

On a side note, what prevents software from being in-between and acting like an INSERT_SIM_HERE?
