Hey where in India are you?
I want to unlock and iPhone and send it to India, and I know in Chennai they have Airtel, but I'm not sure if it's the same one you listed.


Also, you used the dev team's software unlock right?

And how fast does EDGE work? I didn't think India had an EDGE network.

I used the software unlock from the dev team ofcoarse
Edge is there in the form of GPRS & it works pretty fine

i had to get a hardware crack done a week back... works great too... on Airtel Delhi....
BTW, i cant get Edge to work somehow....
what settings did you do ???

For Edge you just need the three correct things

APN: (it should be like EDGE@AIRTEL.IN)
username:
password:

WBR

YOUSHA

After Unlocking your phone navigate to:
Settings>General>Network>EDGE

APN: airtelgprs.com
Username: (blank)
Password: (blank)

Works perfect... Make sure you've activated your edge. Takes 24-48 hrs to activate.
Speed averages at 40kbps. It has clocked upto 80kbps at times though.
www.iphonespeedtest.com is a good place to check your EDGE speed.

Session mode: Permanent
Proxy serv. address: 10.4.42.15:8080

I have tried using imis for APN, but it doesnt seem to work

Using Airtel Karnataka, but aint able to activate edge.

From what i know activating edge means configuring edge and then you get the E symbol (also for GPRS)

But i have set the VPN to airtelwap.com and left the username and password blank.

It doesnt connect. I tried browsing and updating weather.

If you have already configured edge/gprs on airtel, i have one question ?

You configured the vpn (did nothing else) and you are able to browse/update weather/send mails ??
