Unhappy [StealthSim] 1.1.1 OTB upgraded to 1.1.2, SIM accepted, but *no* carriers found

As the topic implies. I have a 1.1.1 OTB phone which didn't work at all with the usual 1.1.1 unlocking tricks; it simply reverted to No Service, so I've been using it as an expensive iTouch for the time being.

edit: To clarify, I jailbroke it successfully, but I "couldn't" unlock it to use it as an actual phone. More on that later.

Now I got my hands on a StealthSim card. I did as the guide said and upgraded to 1.1.2, no real problems. Installed the StealthSim sheet, got a few alignment errors which I sorted out, and now it boots and StealthSim pops up and offers to display the notification atop of all the icons in the springboard. It no longer complains about a missing SIM, an unsupported SIM or an invalid SIM.

Yet it can't find *any* carriers. None. The list is perpetually empty.

I installed iWorld and set it to Sweden. And it still can't find anything, so I can't even dial an emergency number. It either says "Searching..." infinitely, or ends up with "No service". If I go into Carriers, there's nothing listed.

When I unpacked the device and unlocked it, it worked with my Telia SIM for about an evening, then I started getting bad reception and eventually No service. I just figured there was some code someplace refusing Telia's card (I read someplace that it was "from a tricky batch" after interpreting serial numbers), but now with the StealthSim sheet tricking it into believing it's an AT&T carrier, you'd think it'd at least FIND my Telia carrier.

Is there something physically broken inside it? Sending it to the US for repairs from Sweden is somewhat of an undertaking - not to mention I'd probably get an 1.1.3 OTB phone back which would be quite useless - so I'd appreciate any thoughts as to what to try to completely eliminate any software/user error.

    Thanks
