What provider are you using with Universal SIM? Which country?

I'll post more details after I confirm it works over a prolonged period
    2+ days and counting...

BTW, I'll be trying out international roaming when I'm out of the country for in a week or so. IMHO, messing up with network codes should not work with roaming since it requires authentication with the home network.

Default StealthSIM report in Brazil / TIM

I've been using StealthSIM SE with a 3G iPhone in Brazil with TIM carrier for three days now. I had buy a new SIM card with a similar circuit layout from Rogers SIM (I bought the iPhone in Canada) to make it work.

You can see my initial reports in here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49465

So far I've been having very unstable signal. The iPhone will give me "No service" msgs 4 or 5 times a day. Usually after a reboot or putting it in airplane mode ON/OFF solves the problem.

Sometimes I just got an Invalid SIM msg, which might indicate Stealth SIM is a little loose.

Whenever I have signal I can always use data service (including 3G) without any problem.

I two friends which are also using StealthSIM SE here in Brazil, one with TIM also (with the same problems I have) and another one with Claro carrier.

The guy using Claro did not report any problem, he's been using it for almost a week and says the signal is very stable. He doesn't have a data plan so I have no information about 3G in Claro network.

If you would like me to provide some log files I'll be happy to assist you.

By the way, I'm not a re-seller of any SIM solution. I just bought it in Canada from http://www.stealthsim.ca/.

Actually me and 4 friends bought 5 StealthSIMs SE from this website. They only shipped one StealthSIM and when we complained they shipped the other 4 that were missing.

From the report in the quote I just noticed that my StealthSIM is 1mm loose in the shelf. The guy using Claro (which has a strong signal) has a StealthSIM that fits perfectly in the shelf.

From what I could see the differences were made by the person/machine who cut the StealthSIMs.

Claro and Vivo users should not have issues, as both are official carriers: Claro was since 2.0 launch, Vivo got its settings on 2.0.1 update.

Unless iPhone can't be used with another country' SIM card...

That's not true. Being an "official carrier" only means they have their carrier bundle included in the firmware.

The sim lock still applies to whatever carrier sold you the iPhone, in my case (and my friends) I was stick with Rogers'.

That's why we had to use the StealthSIM SE, even with Claro. StealthSIM fakes the IMSI to bypass the lock, but that's the reason why it causes signal instability.

Check the forums, that's very well documented.
