Question about upgrading to pwned 2.2 using U-Sim v5.5.0..
Ok.. the title almost said it all..
I've been using a Universal Sim v5.5.0 since September 22, 2008 with my AT&T iPhone 3G, under FW 2.1
I'm interested in upgrading to the pwned 2.2 firmware, but I haven't read anything about U-Sim users having problems nor success, so I went ahead and started this thread.
Please let me know if it's safe to upgrade my iPhone (obviously done through PwnageTool 2.2.1 so I don't upgrade my baseband), because it's my main phone, and I can't afford turning it into an iPod right now.
Thanks a lot.

Itll work fine with the 2.1 Baseband.
Do the pwnage method restore.
Also, you can always go back to 2.1 using iTunes 8 if it doesnt work, since your baseband wouldn't have been touched.

So what I understood is that..
Working iPhone 3G + Universal-Sim unlocked + 2.1 firmware can be updated to 2.2 using...
Same Universal-Sim + 2.2 custom firmware using pwnage 2.2.1
Is this correct? If yes, why ppl are saying everywhere that you CAN NOT sim unlock iPhone 3G updated to 2.2 whatevr method (itunes or pwnage 2.2.1).

Could someone please confirm if this is possible?
I don't really want to lose everything if the upgrade doesn't work..

Universal-sim v5.00 working great on 2.2 for me!
Here is what I did.
1. Sync and backup with itunes
2. Restore to a pwnd 2.2FW with baseband update disabled.
3. restore with iTunes backup.
4. Enjoy your unlocked 3G!
I didnt get a signal until I restored with the backup. But all works great now!

CONFIRMED! It's working. Followed through same process and everything is good. One more thing, that ugly yellowish tint has gone. I missed that 2G look with less warmer color on my iphone!
Thanks Jimbeam2

In fact usim is working better than before when iPhone was on 2.1. I had only one issue before, Edge disconnecting itself. I had to restart iPhone in order to use Edge. Now with usim+2.2, this problem has been resolved.
