[*Sim] [3G] Results from data observation - Stay away from *sim solutions.

Before RebelSIM, I tried Furiousim, a.k.a YESSIM. With my trials, it worked with
(1) a certain carrier's USIM for less than ten minutes and then died completely. 3G calls in/out, 3G data.
(2) a certain carrier's SIM (but not the same carrier's USIM) on 2G network for calls in/out, SMS in/out. No data. Was quite stable for 3+ days.

For the record, all of the *SIMs I am testing are paid for OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. I do this as a hobby and I do not sell any *SIM solutions. O:)

Now....... Universal SIM...
Just got my hands on it a few hours ago. Might be too early to make any statements but just sharing.
It DID NOT work OTB. However with some poking around with the software and my card reader, it worked with two carriers' USIM cards. Both carriers were tested with 3G calls in/out (with three numbers to prevent loopback), SMS in/out, and 3G data. (I borrowed one of the USIMs from a friend so one carrier was only tested VERY briefly)
On a taxi ride across the city, a phone call in progress broke up once (however that might be due to network, just thought should be noted). Other than that, working 4+ hours and counting....
About the baseband log I haven't went into detail, but have noticed it is quite different from the YESSIM log....
However... the first five digits of my IMSI appear to be altered to 00101... :woz: That's what appeared in the log and the Universal SIM tool.. dunno if it's sent to the carrier network.

Just send me the log and I'll check for you. You can also install minicom (it is in cydia), open terminal and type mincom -s , in the menu go into modem config, hit A to configure it into /dev/tty.debug then hit enter and exit..

After that type at+cimi and read the first 5 digits.. if they are 00101 you are on test imsi and you are going to jail at some point.

AT command returned with my correct IMSI, first five digits being my MCC/MNC.

I thought I read somewhere in a thread ZF_ said that the spec is being the digits flipped in pairs of two ? :confused:

How can I read baseband log ?
My iPhone's /Library/Logs/Baseband it empty.
Do I need to do anything to enable the log ?

The log resides in

/private/var/logs/CrashReporter/Baseband

It's one of the *-csi.plist

This is better than 001/01 but actually means ... - nothing. Just look at the log for zero-g which reports the correct MCC/MNC with AT+CIMI? but does the login with 001/01 nevertheless.

(AT+CIMI? asks for IMSI after zero-g has done reset of SIM, so it reports correct IMSI. iPhone connects with first requested IMSI - 001/01 - and stores this one.)
