How I got the REBEL sim working in my iphone 3G

I’m new to ghost Sims but would like to share my experiences with getting the Rebel SIM card (v61)to work on my iPhone 3G (v2.2.1)

I had a lot of problems getting this to work with my o2 german sim card but with persistence and a lot of patience (a hell of a lot!!) I got everything working (except for calls/sms whilst on 3g)

No SIM/No Network. – A common Problem!

I found sometimes that the phone will not re-find the network once dropped out of coverage.
I found the most reliable method (100% for me) was to ‘reset network settings’.

This was done with both my o2 (german) SIM and the REBEL SIM still in the iPhone.

SETTINGS - GENERAL – RESET - RESET NETWORK SETTINGS

Do this 3 times (yes 3!) and on the third time signal is found straight away (without having to do flight mode on/off or take the cards out of the iPhone)

Remember to active ‘Data Roaming’ to enable ‘2G’ Data. My provider does not require any settings to be put into the APN but you may have to do this depending on your Provider.

Working 3G

When in good coverage switching to 3G allowed me to use the high speed data but I couldn’t make/receive calls or SMS.
I could not just switch back to 2G, the phone would switch off Data all together (Calls/sms still worked).

So afterwards I would have to repeat the step above to ‘RESET NETWORK SETTINGS (a right pain I know!! But at least 3G worked)

No in coming SMS

I encountered not getting SMS’s after installing the REBEL SIM card.

To solve this I placed my SIM card into another phone and sent (and received) some sms messages.
After doing this place your sim card with the REBEL SIM back into the phone and I always get sms through to my iPhone now.

I hope my experiences help just some people out there with the REBEL sim card until a better solution comes along (yellowsnow for latest BB pls!?!)

I get the lost signal -> no sim problem every now and then. Used to turn the iphone on and off about 3 or 4 times and it reconnected.

Happened again yesterday so I figured I'd give your system a try. Reset network settings once, then twice and still no sim. Then reset it one more time...

Iphone is now stuck on white apple logo boot screen. I'll probably need to restore re-jailbrake everything.

Not sure why this happened, but it taught me a lesson - if your system works, don't f*&^ around with it.

I sense this could possibly be a fish working for Rebel sim to help promote the product... one post... a post which aims to solve all the problems of the crappy Rebel sim... maybe someone could please check the IP? :rolleyes:

I got rebelsim some days ago.....it doesnt work, it just doesnt....im looking for another one that i can be sure that it works in my 2.2.1 and 02.30.03....iphone 3g black 16gb...REBEL SIM SUCKS!

Phone/Texting are 100% STABLE
Data (EDGE) works GOOD

Contact me if you are interested... I am tired of hearing people say the Rebel sim does not work, just don't waste your money on it!

You have absolutely no proof it will until you tested it on all cells of all mobile networks on earth :fail (or can explain precisely while it'll work, whichever the easiest :fail)

In short - it's exactly the same worthless crap as any other failsim :fail

Okay.

What do you suggest to a person who has 2.2.1 (2.30.03) on their iPhone 3G, who wishes to unlock it so he can continue to use his current network SIM?


1- wait for updated yellowsn0w and a new exploit? could take time

2- downgrade baseband? will not work with new bootloaders

3- get a turbosim for now.. may not be free... and I'll admit 95% success, as it does not work with ALL iPhones (Canadian iPhones can not be unlocked as far as I know)... but it works for a majority of iPhones (US, UK, French, etc) and it allows you to use phone/text in a stable/no-signal-loss manner.

4- ??? your suggestion

I would recommend the Gevey 3G plus 2 sim adapter - have been using mine for weeks - works brilliantly.

Only downside is no 3g - apart from that its great

EDGE works with most networks on the i-Smartphone sim.

@iGun 4 Fun.. if your card was that good then you would not have had time criticizing REBEL simcard.

your customers will be very happy to see you Supporting them and improving your cards, Scanning and collecting Presets for network simcards not supported in some countries by REBEL and implementing them on the next update,

We have even Developed Rebel simcard .hex Scanner that we send to Resellers all over the world to support them to collect and scan datas with cards reported not working to implement them to work on next Rebel update. Unlocking iPhone is not easy and if it was easy everybody would have been doing it.
