help w/ 2.2 + turbosim =/

hello all,
ive done the hasty and rather idiotic thing of upgrading my 3g 16gb iphone to 2.2. and now im stuck. see, im no iphone technician and i couldnt have told otherwise. i bought my iphone in dubai, and brought it to the uk entrusting the turbo sim i was supplied by a local phone repairsman. now it just sits there, showing me the infamous "plug into itunes" logo and no matter how many factory resets ive applied, it makes no difference. i recently saw 2.2 turbosims on ebay and purchased one. but i dont think itll make a miraculous difference, as i get the excruciating feeling it wont make a difference to the persistent emergency calls only screen i have. do you guys think otherwise? is there a way out of it ? heres the link for this item : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/iPhone-3G-Unlo...1%7C240%3A1308

Ive heard of people downgrading their firmware/baseband, but ive also heard of people having trouble with it, so i didnt want to risk it, in case i dig myself deeper. please help, ive blown my christmas bonus on this phone, and really cant afford to lose it. the person who gives me the effective response will get a £10 help accepted paypal transfer, not bribing, but this is how urgently iw ant to resolve this phone fiasco. ive paid over £500 getting it.

To start with you need to activate your phone; to get past the emergency dial screen. You can do this by restoring with a modified firmware which has already been activated. Read some threads in the 'general' section to help you achieve this.

Once you're past that point you'll be able to access your settings menu (and all your iPhone's features bar calls) and you'll be able to test if your new turbosim works.

I few retailers claim to have sim solutions working with 2.2 now. I've tried rebelsim's new beta firmware which worked for around 24h before stopping, so I won't recommend rebelsim. Hopefully your 2.2 turbosim will work fine.

I think quickpwn is all you need to activate and jailbreak your phone; once you've done this you can check to see if your sim solution is working.

i cannt even get past the emergency screen. i type in *3001#12345#* and call it, but it does nothing, just a loose button. it wont call, and i cetainly dont want to continue without knowing the version of the software. could make things worse. any pointers?

You're seeing the emergency screen because updating your firmware de-activated your phone. you need to start by activating your phone (you can do this as I described above) and then you can see if your new turbosim works. I don't think you can make things any worse by doing this.
