2G options

I have a 2g phone and I have service with AT&T service for the iphone.

I am going to purchase a new Iphone and give the 2g to my son who is also on AT&T without an iphone account.

Current 2G iphone is version 2.1 with firmware 4.05.04_G

Should I jailbreak or unlock or both?

Also last year I purchased a turbo simm Do I need this?

What is the best and easy way to get the 2g phone ready for my son without having to activate and iphone account?
I do not want him to use the edge for internet....Have wifi in the home.

Thanks got it.

On his AT&T plan we have his texting and data de actvated....hes in trouble!

Do you think he would be able to get on the internet using data mins. that would be charged to his account?
Dont want to get charged for texting or data.

Also could he have voice mail....virtual voicemail is not needed?

I have no idea about to get on the internet using data minutes. Maybe you can check directly with AT&T. And yes, he can use voice mail; visual voice mail is not needed.
