I have been getting many questions about the Magic SIM method. I will try to clear up as much confusion as I can in this post. First, the Magic SIM software version that was linked in the other post can only talk to a card writer on the serial port. I have been told by many people that Magic SIM offers a usb driver/compatible version of their software.
Also I forgot to mention that Woron Scan comes with the Magic SIM software. Second, the IMSI and ICCID are the only things that the phone uses to validate the SIM card and therefore the ki does not need to be programmed into the dual SIM.
According to mitts who talked with Eric from Magic SIM, The latest version of Magic SIM (v16) is NOT programmable while the one linked to in my original post (v15) is. This leads me to my final conclusion, BigBuckz could be lying about getting this method to work.
As I said in my original post, this is ONLY a theory. BigBuckz had talked with g who apparently said that the method had worked 100%, though after looking through the thread his claim is starting to not look legit. For one, he has absolutely no proof that he successfully programmed a Magic SIM and used it to unlock his iPhone. Next, he claims in the thread to have used v16 which isn’t programmable. Last, this method contains no IMSI and ICCID timing as seen on Turbo SIM.
As mitts has pointed out to me, a crucial part of this that was overlooked was IMSI / ICCID timing and counting. When power is given to the Turbo SIM, it sends the IMSI and ICCID two times at crucial points when the phone is actually checking for validity. From here on until the SIM card is disconnected the Turbo SIM sends the actual IMSI and ICCID. Therefore unless the programmed dual SIM just happens to send the programmed IMSI and ICCID at the right times before switching to the actual IMSI and ICCID WITHOUT disconnecting, it is not possible for this method to work.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
At least the ebay seller is decent to offer refund.
but why would they make v15 programmable and the succesor v16 not... doesn't sound right... just y 2c ..
i don;t really think the "msn" conversation proves anything but neither does the message that it does work...
another question... do they sell turbosims in NYC anywhere? thanks!
Very bad news to me, I've bought 10 Dual MagicSims v16 few days ago...
I have bought 5 too, I hope this will actually work, or else the money is wasted
I also buyed 2 magicsims from ebay^^
but I think there will be a solution, hope the cards are here at the weekend, then I will try.
Well my friends, sorry but you all jumped the gun before waiting for some real confirmation.
I'm not panning out this method completely yet, but one thing that's already established for sure is that the MagicSIM software won't let you write to the MagicSIM 16th at all. And yeah, the 16th seems to have less features than the 15th, but it's cheaper and based on the same underlying technology that makes the 15th a stable device, and this by itself already justifies the new revision, I think.
Bottom line is: one will need a separate SIM writing device to handle the card. Whether the 16th ends up being writeable, it's only a guess now, since the MagicSIM software won't take it, so we're left with only BigBuckz's statement to rely upon, and nothing else.
Additionally, I don't know of any other software that (allegedly!) will let you write just the IMSI and ICCID values and not the Ki to a card. Perhaps CAS Studio will, but then again, people will have to invest in a Duolabs Dynamite Plus ( http://www.duolabs.com/dynamiteplus.html ) in order to reproduce BigBuckz's experiment.
If people are willing to bounty... I'm willing to try. I don't have much use for the writer anyway, so perhaps if someone points to someone else that's provably reliable and willing to cut his SIMs to try it out, I'm probably in :)
BTW, just in case you were wondering, I'm the guy who goes by the name of mitts elsewhere.
eheheh i know where you live!!! :D

And another thing the video I saw on youtube could also be an unlocked Iphone from France or Germany. Maybe some guys only wanted to make some fast money before christmas?????
Personally i bought 1 magicsim on ebay 2days ago. But the seller emailed me on regarding the product and offered to refund my $$ as it does not guarantee that the magicsim could works on the iphone. In fact he has no knowledge we are buying it to test on the iphone.
Rather decent seller imo.
