    Default Jaycar Kit

    Hi all,

Just thought I'd put in place a thread about the Jaycar kit, and provide a few files and links of interest.

This kit is not a simple solution to sim cloning, and it should be noted that it can cause hair loss due to frustration of it not working despite the obvious - then it half working, then the other half working etc...

Anyway, here's the first link - a basic 'how to' guide, written by someone on the sat forums a long time back:
    http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/7/...115/jaycar.zip

A link to the introduction on the Austech forums a few years back:
    http://www.austech.info/archive/index.php/t-48682.html

Someone having problems with it on the Austech forums a while ago:
    http://www.austech.info/archive/index.php/t-53464.html

A Sat Industry forums link, which speaks of using the Jaycar:
    http://www.sat-industry.net/forums/s...ead.php?t=6541

I'll post more as I dig it out. Yes, these are all quite old links - the kit hasn't been changed since July 2003 though (and neither has windows haha - unless you're one of the decimal places using vista...).

    Cheers.

    Woronscan at Phoneix@3.579Mhz frequency.
    Sim-Emu 6.01 Configurator v2.1 works at Phoneix@6.00Mhz frequency.

    Phoenix setting is Pins 1&2.

Jaycar Kit finnished and built. Now for the fun part tomorrow!

So far I have been able to read from my sim card all the info needed. I was also able to write to the flash using ic-prog. The only thing left is to write the eeprom which this thing just refuses to do! I don't know what I am doing wrong.

I tried it with both ic-prog and sim-emu thingie.... the ic-prog says that it can not verify write... the error is something like "write not verified at position 000H" or something like that.

On the sim-emu it just doesn't recognize the smartcard i think. It says "insert gsm card or emu card" when I try to "write to card" under the eeprom tab.

BTW, I tried many jumper settings for both the frequency and smartmouse/pheonix things (and edited corrosponding options in the software accordingly). I also tried both modes on the s1 switch. Still no solution so far.

Just keeping you up-to-date with the progress... And hoping to get ideas from you guys... cause I am running out of them :X

    Cheers,
    Marwan

Ok well I am off to get my self win XP SP2 so I can install it on my boot camp side of my macbook and then I will be back to plug away at it. I am hoping that the prolific adaptor for my USB to Rs 232 will do the trick. It works great for flashing my firmware on my GPS on the PC side so I know that XP sees it as a com port with out any problems at all.

Only one way to find out but! So I'll keep ya posted later today when I have the card reader I built last night at least working! lol.

I hear that you need to do a small modification to the kit to get it to behave correctly. I read this on the Sat Industry forums. See, my kit is someone else's who used to do the pirating of the aus* cards ages back, so I never got to see the 'joy' of building the sucker. I've burned cards, etc, but didn't get to build it. Also, I'm having probs with it right now, but I'm sure that's the human element, not the electronic one.

    Check out these three threads:

    Question

ok so I have finnished the kit, its working like a charm.

Worscan has done what it needs to without any problems,
and I have all the info. KI took about 15 min to get.

So now when I fire up Sim-Emu is cant see a card in the slot at all? Anyone got any ideas? or is there another app I can use that might have better luck?

PS. Worscan I used the following hardare settings: Com 3, 3.5Mhz Pheonix and the front LED button IN.

You'll probably have no luck with Sim Emu period, as with the Jaycar you have to change settings in the hardware between writing the EPROM and writing the PIC. You'll need to use IC Prog. I'll post links to the software this evening. Cheers.
