    Default iPhone simtray changed

    Hello,

    Last week I unlocked succesfully an iphone with the stealthsim. Yesterday i tried another one from production week 50. Lot of troubles. The Stealthsim would not penetrate untill the end of the simholder. The contrast between sliding a regular sim and a sim topped with the SS was very big.
    I noticed also a curved opening at the end op the simholder.

    I think Apple changed some hardwaredetails on the simholder and the internal mechanism. I have the strong impression that kind of a sharp object placed horizontaly at the the end of the sim entry is lifting up all strange objects placed on top of the sim card. So it will lift up the Stealthsim card en break the contacts and eventually bring damage to the SS. In that way i ruined one SS card.

    Solution: You need to fix the stelthsim with some thin transparant tape at the end (side which goes into the iphone first) of the simholder. But be carefull, so that the tape follows exactly the curved opening at the end of the sim holder. Whennot, a mechanic detection will tell you "no sim". I found it necessary to cut about 2-3 mm from the SS to ensure that it does not find itself above the curved opening. Do not apply any tape on the opening at the bottom op de simholder.

    Before I forget it. Another tip which can help. If you have a sim card with pin-code. First put in the card without the SS. The iphone will ask you for the pin and then reply that you need another sim card. After that, reboot and apply the SS (with one small pece of tape) on top of the regular sim card of your provider.

    This worked for me after 10 hours of failures.

    What is so special about this turbotray? And where can I get it? I don't find to much in Google. I do not see why it would be easier than a snall piece of tape. Beside this, the problem remains that the stealth or whatsoever sim is lifted at the end of the sim entry hole. I also hate it to fysically modify any original parts.

    Does anybody have a picture of this modified simtray? I just bought two phones, one is week 47 and the other week 50. I was going to use one of the sim solutions, but if it's the case that they've modified the tray, I'll just return them. Apple seems to spending lots of time combatting unlocking rather than improving the phone. You got to wonder where their priorities are. Actually, we know where the priorities are and they just aren't in the right place.

    Let's see some pictures! I'd be happy to take pictures of my week 37 phone for comparison's sake.

    Thanks!

    I think you cannot get pictures. It's inside the simtray opening. You can compare it with a razorblade oriented at 45°that is gently touching the top of the simtray and the regulmar AT@T card when you push it in. Strange objects on top of this card would curl up, unless you fix them with some tape;

    i HAVE NO PROOF OF THIS but strongly think i'am wright, following my experiences and the succes i got with a little piece of tape.

    I heard you can sand down your sim card to provide more room for the squeeze. I just ordered my sim actually so i'm interested in knowing where i can tape my sim without messing anything up. think you can provide some pictures?

    I think I understand what's happening. I have a week 37 iphone and I just tried using a nextsim in it - as you say, there is a small horizontal piece that catches the nextsim UNLESS you make sure it's very flat. But I think that's always been the case.

    Tomorrow, after the keynote when I know what's announced, I'm going to open a week 50 version and will compare the two directly.
