Default iPhone and new Rogers account.

    Afternoon all,

I have my phone ready to go except I do not have a plan yet with Rogers as I am currently with Bell.

If I want to transfer my number over how does it work?

If I go to Rogers they give me a SIM card with a temporary number which i then have switched to my old number. Is this just a computer entry on their end or does it involve Rogers needing something from the iPhone.

I was transferring my wifes phone and they said they needed the phone to program it. Hers isn't an iPhone so it didn't matter.

Does trying to figure out the process, is it as simple as going to a Rogers counter and saying "Hi, I want to transfer my number and account to you." and they give me a SIM card with my number and away I go.

    Sorry I'm using a StealthSIM

    Thanks

    Hey,
That's exactly what I did - just walked in, signed a three-year contract and asked them to transfer my previous #. I got a free phone with it, so I didn't even bothered telling that I was gonna use the iPhone. They assigned a temporary # and like 3-4 hours later I got a message saying that my number was successfully transferred to my new Rogers sim card!
    Good luck!

    Hi Canuck

I want to avoid the 3 year contract. Who knows maybe in 4 they will offer an iPhone and I won't have to worry about the procedure now. If i sign up now won't get the credit later.

    Dann,

That's kind of what I figured wasn't sure what to do if they asked for the IMEI number.

    Thanks

im not a pro but... i'm pretty sure you can give them an IMEI number of any unlocked or rogers phone. Then after they have "programmed" it or whatever it is that they need to do. Just pull out the sim and stick it in your iphone. I dont think they are allowed to lock the sim to an imei. my 2 cents.
