Iphone 3G Unlock, Hardware Solution that Really Works
Hi All, I’ve read tons of post about the Iphone 3g hardware and software solutions. While we all wait for the DEV TEAM software solution, we will be dependent on the hard Sim-Card Solution. I have read lots of mail from people who are disappointed by the hardware solutions offered, for some people it just does not work others claim that everything works fine. I am stuck in the middle. In my home network everything works. With the exception of EDGE and 3G when I enable 3G or EDGE signal strength drops to zero and then “no service” OK no problem at home I have wireless flat rate DSL . My problems really start when my phone is “ROAMING” outside my home network which is Vodafone Germany. “NO SERVICE” I tried every trick in my book to regain service but after hours of trying I’ve come to the conclusion it just does not work. As I said, many people claim to have a 100% working hardware solution but are these claims true have they really tested and used all the items the Iphone is capable of doing eg TEXT,EDGE,3G,MMS,ROAMING,GPS, CALL Forwarding, CALL Waiting. I think if people really start testing their Iphone they will find that the Hardware solution has many problems which go unnoticed. I hate paying for things that don’t really work and so far it seems that the hardware solution doesn’t really work.
Is there someone that has really TESTED a sim-card that works without limitations on “REALLY” ANY and All Networks? And I don’t mean “well mine works fine on O2”
Please let us Know. Stop the millions of dollars from being wasted on useless Sim cards
using sims like xsim often break the sim tray, because the fit of the iphone sims are already so tight, some people often end with a phone that reads no sim all the time. Personally if you knew your coverage for 3g was going to be bad you should have just got a 2g phone, the us ones are the cheapest and easy to unlock. If you have roaming problems it is usually the fault of the carrier that does not organize your roaming well enough, roaming costs them more and they usually only pick one other service in each area/ country.
I use a 2g phone and can tell you that iPhones do not have great reception in comparason to other phones, the antenna is small and space is shared with an antenna for wifi/Bluetooth. But it does work well in metro areas, just not a country phone.
Hope when you can unlock your phone things get a bit better, in aus they will unlock 3g phones for 80 bucks if you own it. So really I dont think the dev team is in a hurry to unlock the 3g when it is so easy to buy them legally unlocked. Maybe ask your provider if you can pay the handset repayments off and get them to unlock it so you can use other sims, but major problem is you have to reactivate the phone with iTunes each time you swap sims, really lousy means you need a laptop when travelling. I'm not sure if a pwned activation let's you swap on the go but maybe.

Reason: 1st two posts are just plugging x-sim solution
I'm in Germany running a simhack over Vodafone via Mobilcom - can't get data to work - Mobilcom says that all SIMs have data capability but an expensive oer Meg cost - I tried to load a couple of options for the APN - web.vodafone.de but still have the problem - any ideas??
You have to turn on data roaming*
*If the chip works with data

The sim really needs to be activated for data in the phone it is registered with your provider to send the right details.
ie Nokia setting may not work in a Samsum
The best setting are Nokia N95
So get the operator to send them and you and your then just abt there.
