The iPhone Dev blog site was the first place I went to - when iTunes 8.02 tempted me to upgrade.
Besides blocking SIM proxies - is there any fixes at all in the new iPhone 3G BaseBand ?

There will always be a work around... just give it time. People that temp turned your iphones into paperweights... sucks to be you, but if the dev team doesnt pull through, Im sure someone will find another way to make the sim adapters work... or maybe GeoHotz will pop out of nowhere with the unlock we have been waiting for. *wishful thinking* But all I can really say is that you should always look before you leap.
iPhone 3G 3.0 unlocked via ultrasn0w! in conjunction with redsn0w! Thanks dev team!

I upgraded to 2.2.....How fucked am I?
I was running my iPhone with a sim-card adapter. It was my understanding that these adapters were "upgrade-proof"...... but clearly I was wrong. I know that I should have waited. I feel like such a complete n00b right now. I would really appreciate someone who understands this explaining to me what the chances are I will be able to get my phone working again and how long it will take. I ordered a back-up phone on ebay today so at least I'll have something while my paperweight... i mean iphone sits and collects dust.

Not entirely update-proof since the update changes baseband completely... just a speed bump if you ask me.
Just spoke with engineers at i-Smartphone in Shenzhen... they are working on a sim solution to dealing with the 2.2's new modem firmware, a new version of the sim-unlock should be available for the new baseband shortly.

nothing, you upgraded the baseband... you'll have to buy another universal-sim when they release it for 2.2
