i-Smartphone Sim
I'm new to all this and am having some trouble. I bought an i-Smartphone sim for my Canadian iPhone 3G (locked to Rogers) and it doesn;t seem to work. When I put the i-Smartphone and my sim in the iPhone 3G, I get the following:
1) The iPhone says "Different SIM detected. Please connect to iTunes". It recognizes the SIM (I have a signal in the upper left corner) as well as the provider. It also tells me to connect to iTunes.
2) When I connect to iTunes, it tells me that "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.".
The iPhone is running FW 2.1 and has been jailbroken (with no issues). I am running the latest iTunes (8.0.2.20). I thought that the iPhone needed to be activated and tried to connect using the original SIM, but iTunes did not give me the option to activate. I'm at a loss and don't know what else to try.
Can anyone offer any advice? Please?

Sync with itunes
I think u will find that itunes does not work with the i-smartphone sim. to get itunes to work you either have to slighty eject the sim or put the iphone into flight mode then itunes works. If you put into flight mode you need to fully turn off the phone and reboot after sync with itunes.

Thanks.
I tried what you suggested and it seems I got one step further. iTunes now sees the phone # on my SIM and (after I rebooted) the iPhone no longer tells me "different SIM detected". However, iTunes still tells me that the SIM in my iPhone is not compatable.
Anything else I should try?

sim adaptor itunxxx
I think you are as far as you can go. If the phone works as a phone then the sim adaptor is working. The only way you can sync to itunes is as i stated earlier.bit of a pain i know but better than nothing. I assume the iphone is activated.

if your phone is activated via jailbreaking, the itune should not pop a message "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported."
since you are running fw2.1, try to quickpwn and activate it

I had this problem when i first used my i-smartphone adapter. All I needed to do was to activate/jailbreak the phone again with the sim card + i-smartphone inserted with quickpwn.
I just followed this guide.

I've been testing with i-smartphone sim and it seems that I can make calls, but it now doesn't receive calls. It did when I first put in the sim but now it just goes straight to voicemail.
Any advice?

weird... i had been using i-smartphone sim for a month now, never had such problem... try to power off your phone and turn it back on, see if it helps
