    Default Howto tell v2/3 sim card from v1

    hello everyone,

    Just wondering if there is a way, or a general rule to determine a v2/3 simcard from a v1 (that can be used with the new technique) *without* a sim card reader..

    Thanks!

    sorry there is no way to identify v2/v3 externally.

    Sam/Admin please call this thread. Too many "sim clone" threads around. So confusing...

    Well I had a question and posting in the 15+ pages doesnt answer it really.

    Is there a general rule for telling? For example, I have a 3g Optus card - too new?

    Cheers

    Forget it.. This are all newer cards and not v1 ones.. If I remember right, v1 cards have for example only space for 10 sms on card. Really old cards

    Good joke. :p I have a 10 year old T-Mobile (D1) SIM and I'm not sure it is a V1 SIM. Even 5-6 years old SIMs are usually NOT V1 SIMs anymore.

    Good luck finding one, you need a WORKING one, not just an old one.
    Ask your dad, your mom, your older relatives, maybe somebody still has a very old contract and is willing to give it away for a new one, whatever. You need a WORKING V1 SIM, otherwise forget about it.

    I suppose 100% of the 3G enabled SIMs are NOT V1 SIMs.

    Will the network reactivate an old sim if you supply the IMSI code ?

    k what ive found:

    the only one who really can tell what card you have is your provider. but

    v3= 250 telephonebook entries| gsm/umts 3volt
    v2=gsm 3volt
    v1=gsm 5volt

    you can call your provider and order a v1 sim for some bucks (germany/other countries dont know)
    since mid 2002 v2 cards(germany)
