do x-sim adapters affect GPS functioning?
I'm just curious as to why my GPS works only 10% of the time. I figure the GPS only relies on the network for google maps. Isn't the actual gps positioning handled directly by the gps antenna and the gps satelite? Does the sim adapter have anything to do with weither or not the GPS works?
Most of the time I just get the large circle like the 2G phones get when they activate the locate me feature.

It's assisted GPS. Yes, it uses satellites, but it also uses the GSM network for more accurate triangulation.

I appreciate the additional info but my question is still open. Does the sim adapter somehow interfere with the GPS? I get a good cell tower triangulation circle. It's pretty dead on, although it circles maybe a square mile of an area, it seems I'm always in the center of the circle.
Before I had the xsim, I pwnaged the 3G and used it as just an expensive Touch. And with no sim inserted and only wifi enabled the GPS always worked. Even out of wifi area the GPS would work, the map just wouldn't update. The blue dot would just scroll across into an empty grid. So why now does it only work less than half the time?

it should not effect GPS, some users have reported problems with their GPS not working after using a *sim.
The past 4 sims that I've tested (ismartphone, universal, virgin, yessim), the gps blue dot showed up. Also, you have to be outside in an open clear sky to obtain gps signal - does not work indoors or places where there are tall buildings.
The blue dot gps DOES NOT rely on any cell network or google maps. It acquires signals from satellites from space that pinpoint your long\lat, and thats why it might show up even if you dont have data.
Theres an ongoing thread about it: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1438571
