The simcloning solution is obsolete, there's no reason why you should be using it.

I am in the same situation with you.
I had my iPhone ZiPhopned, totally screwed with no reason. I follow instructions very well. I've replaced my com board, upgrade the phone, now it is like new and interested to use the SIM option too.
From what I read here, YES, you need to jailbreak it only, not activate it.
I am not sure if any of the SIM's would work with 1.1.4
Anyone?

Yes, you need to jailbreak it. Yes, you definitely need to activate it. Before you invest money in this, however, you should be taking a look at bootneuter, which I can personally guarantee is 200% better than any crap Zibri puts out.
Just to put this in perspective, we're planning on eliminating the simcloning forum some time in the very near future, and the community as a whole has pretty much abandoned the method, so plan on updating the utilities for new firmwares yourselves.
