Default Did U throw away your Xsim for Gunlock ????

Even though my StealthSim was working flawlessly on my OOB 1.1.2 4.6BL phone, I had the urge to try GeoHot Software unlock !!! I took a deep breath, dowloaded the Gunlock from the Installer and 5 minutes later ........... I was happily unlocked without the use of my StealthSim !!!! Never been so easy.
    So long xSim ...............

I didn't throw away my China3GPP *sim, but I can't really see any possible future use with it. Once a week I used to get the dreaded "no service, no sim" messages - I haven't had one since using the geohot unlock and removing my *sim.

Im on 1.1.3 with my black stealthsim and no signal lose what so ever so I don't have any reason to switch to software unlock and go trhough 20 process of virginizing to have my phone fixed on the warranty. Plus people have encountered so many problems with the gunlock so far and im unlucky enough to get all of those so.. Ill stay with the *sim

I am not an expert on this, but I don't think problems are common with the unlock. From what I've seen, the people with problems are those that didn't follow the instructions properly. Compare this to the large numbers of people who get "no service, no sim" problems with the *sims (i got this once a week on average, but some people got it all the time).

Can someone tell me for sure:

I have a 1.1.2 OTB phone that is already jailbroken and activated and working PERFECTLY with a NextSim....I mean perfectly...no problems.....I DON'T want to upgrade to 1.1.3.

Would it be worth it to just unlock so I don't have to use the NextSim? I hear of mixed results with the GeoHot unlock.

Can just go into the installer and download the GeoHot unlocker while I am in 1.1.2 and just run it? ...don't have to go to 1.1.1 or anything?

Have people had good results over time doing this? Is there a step I am missing?

    thanks

Your post is quite contraddictory . If you are perfectly fine with your Xsim and do not have the urge ( like I had ) to mess around with your phone , I do not see why you should software unlock your phone. In my case my StealthSim , was working 95% OK. And even if it had been working 100% I would have still tried the software unlock. I also agree with the previous post that the Gunlock has not worked for those how did not followed the instruccions. In my case it worked perfectly and took me 5 minutes to complete it . I was ready to spend hours or even days troubleshooting my iphone in case something went wrong. And I do not really see my iphone as a working tool , but rather as a toy that I am using to experiment new things.
Enjoy your Xsimmed working iphone and leave it like that if you are too nervous about it.

Thanks for the response...so you downloaded it from installer while you were in 1.1.2 and ran it? All you had to do was set autolock to never?

Or did you downgrade to 1.1.1 first?

I had stealthsim running in my 1.1.2 OOB iPhone. I had to remove and adjust once per week the stealthsim, because of no sim and no service messages. I was really tired of it. I installed the geohots unlock and I haven't had any problems. So I am happy of being liberated of the *sim, and at the same time, I don't hate the *sim because it let me use my iPhone for 2 months while my friend's locked iPhone's were in it's boxes picking dust. Anyway, the geohots unlock gave great benefits and no problems.
I recomend you to apply the unlock, all I had to do is to set the autolock to never, install the Geohots package from iClarified, and 5-6 minutes later, goodbye *sim. You will amaze of how easy is to insert the sim on an iPhone with no extra bulk!
