    Default Can't unlock 3g with Virginsim - ?!?

    Hi guys!
I have bought an iPhone 3G, which has been used with a T-Mobile-SIM-Card before. Now I would like to use it with my o2-SIM-Card (i live in Germany, btw) and have therefore bought the VirginSim-Card.
I followed the instructions, but it still says, i should insert an unlocked SIM-Card.
I thought the problem might be that I have not jailbroken it yet, so I did that using pwnage-tool. It worked out fine, but the iPhone-screen doesn't change.
I would be very glad if anybody could help me (i do not have any possibility to talk on the phone, since i don't even have an extra homephone.. :-( that is really devastating!!)
    thanks in advance!

You need to turn off your phone, and put the Virgin SIM in and then restart your phone.

    What Firmware are you on?.

If your on 2.2 with the 2.2 Baseband 2.28.something, then your out of luck. No SIM Unlock works with it yet.

If your on Baseband 2.11.07 and below itll work.

I did turn off my phone before sliding virginsim in with my sim-card. afterwards i turned it back on. do you mean anything special by restarting the phone?

i bought the phone nov. 13th, i don't know what firmware the guy used i bought it from. i thought though that 2.2 came out later and used pwnage with firmware 2.1 (which should be installed now at least)

    any other hints?

    thanks alot!

It's really weird, I do get sms now..
I still have the screen saying i should connect to itunes, i can only do emergency-calls and it tells me to insert an unlocked or valid sim. when i click to unlock and enter my pin, it returns to the "connect to itunes"-screen, but i have service and my sms keep coming in. i can only read them while they have just popped up though.
maybe that helps sb to help me. i would be very glad!!

^^ You need to install a Pwnaged Firmware with the Activate Option set to yes.

Get the latest PwnageTool from http://blog.iphone-dev.com ....

Create a firmware in Expert Mode (Simple Mode doesnt work for the iPhone firmwares, you get an error while restoring)

but I still have to download and install the 2.1-version since 2.2 doesn't work with sim-unlock, right?

    Type where?..

Does your carrier have a compatible band of 3G to the iPhone?
