Hey guys, I'm also from Brazil (Salvador). I bought an iPhone from Mercado Livre with a SIM unlocker, but the seller didn't say which one it is. When I got the phone, I cut my sim and put into iPhone. Everything was just fine. Then I pwned the phone and got "No service" at status bar. I pwned with and without activation without success. The signal bar was full when I opened the box and put the SIM + SIM Unlocker when the phone was in recovery mode (to activate).
After reading some stuff around the web, I realize that is kind of bad to use sim unlock (mostly if u don't know what kind of shit you are putting into your phone).
So I'm not using this one anymore and I'm searching for an alternative while the software unlock isn't released.
My question is, if anyone (particularly in Brazil, I think) know if there's a solution out there that work with Oi carrier and where did you bought it, cause I found nothing yet on Mercado Livre.
Here are 2 pics, showing the SIM unlocker and the iPhone 3G working (I made a call in emergency state to my home and it worked):

* yeah, its a very old SIM, I Know.. hehehe

You need the original sim that comes with the iPhone to activate it through iTunes first. In other words, you need the sim from the carrier that the iPhone was bought.
Restore with custom firmware (unchech activate), put the legit sim it while connecting to iTunes. It will activate the iphone.
Now you can use your clone sim or unlocked sim.

Hey can you show us the SIM card that you cut, the other side? What does the gold pad look like? Is it a 2G or 3G SIM, is it a 128k or 256k? Thanks.
For future please use this thread, you are welcome to post there because we need as much honest reports as possible:

Hi leocg, as NewWayAround pointed out, you need the original SIM card to do the activation with iTunes.
I don't know if Pwnage can activate 3G iPhones (didn't work for me at least).
I've been using StealthSIM SE and seems to be ok. It's not 100% stable as I do get "No SIM" error messages and "No service" sometimes.
If you put a tape to stick the StealthSIM SE it helps with the "No SIM" error, it seems stealthsim is a little loose on the shelf.
The "No service" error is less frequently now with firmware 2.0.1, 2.0.2 update may help more.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, guys!
I did the activation with the original SIM (AT&T). After that, the SIM solution stop working. Tried to use Pwnage Tool + SIM Unlock combo with every single combination and No Service always. I'll put a pic of my chip circuit later, cause I'm at work now. It's an old GSM 64k (i think) chip.
I'm currently reading a lot of topics here. It seems that StealthSim SE is the best solution so far for 2G, am I right? But i found it a little expensive... $99 on eBay... I don't know if I could "gamble" a SIM Unlocker for $99 (R$160,00) + expenses... Maybe custom will charge 60% more, cause they do that for everything above $50 in Brazil.
I can't test my old sim unlocker anymore... I've tried so many times that I damaged the circuit. As deco sayd, I think this solution sent the 2 infos and then stopped. First time, it worked fine. And that's it... I'm enjoying my new 'iPod touch' for now, but I will be glad to find another solution while Dev Team, Zibri, Geohot, anyone, could find a software unlock.
Ps.: now I remembered that the SIM worked with 2.0 out of the box iPhone. When the No Service started, I upgrade the firmware to 2.0.1 and I think I'm keeping this version, cause I don't want to upgrade my modem firmware again.

Put your cutted sim into another phone. Catch service. Then go and select your carrier manually. After that, put it back with the "sim unlocker" and put it back into your 3G iphone. It'll work again.

Thanks for all the replies! Working again, just restored to 2.0.1 and selected the network manually. Tonight I'll try to jailbreak without using the Activate option. Thank you so much!

Have you tried a custom bundle for Oi?

Not yet... I'm at work right now, and restored my iPhone, cause it was jailbroken with the "Activate" option marked.
I'll jailbreak it when I get home, cause I will use PwnageTool and here I use Windows instead of Mac OS. But the guys from BRPhone already made the custom carrier logos to work with 2.0 firmware.
