Anybody got a clue about a possible attempt at a new Applesaft? Like any guy around actually trying to do something?

We don't see baseband activity in the logs. All the logs from firmware.

I read (carefully, I think... ) and can't understand how can you justify that it's no baseband activity... all logs from firmware only.

What if it's the case that this time 4.03.13 does check the sim by itself and lock all baseband functino since the first place. So there is no response from the baseband no matter how the firmware try to talk to it.

I think that what he meant is that we see the responses of Baseband checks against SIM, not the actual checks performed by the baseband.

We see AT+CIMI, then a responde +XLOCK, "PN",1,1 which says it's locked, but we don't see what the baseband actually does with the IMSI to check if it has to be "locked" or not.

This because we see the logs at higher level than a "debug" session of the baseband... Too much dreaming maybe...

Reports on other boards say that these new SIM unlock phones but out calls or SMS fail. Only incoming...

OK, I read these reports and I know why it's failing.

Bad news (for the dumb resellers that bought those stuff but that's just poetic justice I guess ) is that it's not fixable.

Those guys have just found an IMSI that passes the xlck test (probably just the test IMSI 001 001). Then the network registration will work halfway because the temporary IMSI is still valid on the card until the next registration is done, but you're not properly registered - so incoming calls/SMS and data won't work.

It's the same thing we got with the first (non exploited) silvercard, and it's pretty lame.

Believe me or not I was about to suggest to change Applesaft to feed a test network IMSI to bypass first check as done already in the past with other phones

Ok, if the first IMSI check is used for both "lock check" and registration I'd say it's game over... If the first check can be bypassed with the "test network" IMSI and subsequent IMSI reads we give the valid IMSI? But I guess they are smart and combined check and registration in the first IMSI read.

Exactly, the same routine is doing lock check and registration. That's why that test IMSI trick is only temporary and not good at all. I'm even surprised they considered selling that.
