Default [1.1.2 OTB] What did i buy off eBay this time? Pls help me to indentify XX-SIM

    Hi guys,
i bought a STEALTHSIM of ebay (Germany) and the seller sent something else...

I immeadly contacted him, but he offered to pay me half of the money back and so i though, both of them aren't re-programable, so what the h*ck.

    Now i got this thing:

... and the worst thing: I doesn't work!! My iPhone tells me "No SIM"... when i try my German O2 SIM with the adapter in my old phone, it doesn't connect to the network provider...

    Any hints?

    Big thanks in advance!!!

What you've bought contains a 12F683 PIC chip, which, in theory should be reprogrammable.

My suspicion is that you've bought what is being described on this Hong Kong iPhone website:

    http://translate.google.com/translat...3DeEs%26sa%3DG

Sadly, it looks like you've got an early version of the chip, where the software running on the PIC doesn't have support for all foreign networks.

    If you check out:

    http://www.169sj.com

then I think this is the original supplier of what you've bought.

It may be possible to reprogram your PIC to make it work on your network, but who knows.

    Hope this helps,

    Bagpuss.

    Yes Sir!

Its a great place to start... the thing is: I found an old card of a Syrian carrier at (god knows how it got here...) and when i plug both of them in, i get it to work...

In other words: If tries to connect to a network.

When i plug my German O2 in i get: NO SIM.

Anything to conclude form this? I found a German site claiming, hypercards don't work with O2 Germany, though others do... any info on that?

    [didn't find anything searching]

From what I can make out, you have a v2 edition of the 'StealthSIM'.

From the Google translation of the HK forum page, it looks like this particular card is not good at working with newer SIM designs, particularly 3G SIMs.

The manufacturer now has a specific version for o2 SIM cards, which they call v4.

It looks very much like you won't be able to get it to work. I'd ask the supplier for a refund, as he has obviously been lumbered with these things, and knows that they won't work.
