I am decent enough at following directions and i can see how to make this all work.
My question is this. I am traveling to China for a while and so i want to jailbreak my US OTB 1.1.2 iPhone and use the TurboSIM to work in China. The thing is my wife is going a week early and she is not tech savy enough to do the work on the phone.
Can i set up the iphone and all that here in the us and have it work over there?
So is the Sim card from china required for the phone setup? And if i got a card mailed to me in advance could i set it up here in the US to be used there without having a way to connect to a service with the Chinese phone, since i am in the US?
Please let me know my restrictions so i can see if this is a doable thing for her.
Yes, you can "set up the iphone and all that here in the us and have it work over there".
and
Yes, "the Sim card from china" IS "required for the phone setup".
Cheers,

Awesome.. thanks.
One last questions, i think, once i have set up the TurboSim with my new sim card. Can i just put the original ATT sim back in without the TurboSim and use the phone on that sim card again.
So basically when i come back to the US and want to go back on ATT network.. Is that just swapping the card back to the original att sim and thats all?
thx

i am not sure, but I suppose you can do all the stuff necessary, insert your own SIM which later will just roam in china (?!), only thing possibly needs to be done is switch countries in iworld, when in china. I dont think that a chinese SIM will be necessary. BUT if you wanna switch SIMs, say, using your own while still in the US; then using another when in China (e.g. a pay2go SIM), you will have to take the turbosim out of the phone, and insert it again together with the chinese SIM. to align the both SIMs can be quite a pain in the ass, also each time you take out or insert back the turboSIM you are raisinig risk of damaging it, coz it is quite thin and fragile. if frequently changing SIMs, maybe a cheaper solution than bladox turbosim might be much more appropriate, say choose a cheap preprogrammed one just for the journey to china.
oh, and to be safe, if it is just necessary to change iworld settings when in china, i suppose your wife should manage that, changing SIMs probably not.
iPhone US W46 OTB 1.1.2
-> fully restored to 1.1.3 with iTunes
-> fully unlocked to carrier blau.de with ZiPhone

It will work in china, if you do everything before you go to China..
Also, i dont think that a chineese SIM card is required to work the phone in China unless your carrier doesnt support that country...

My Iphone will receive calls but will not ring
I recently purchased a turbosim like card and I followed iMaiso's tutorial to unlock my1.1.2 iphone.
All are working perfectly with the exception that when the phone is in the idle state and I receive a call the phone will not ring. No lights or anything will come on. If I am using the phone for any other facility at that time it rings normally if there is an incoming call. If the phone is on the charger, whether charging or not even if it is on the idle state it rings normally on an incomming call. We have tried everything including reprogramming the turbocard, downgrading, upgrading, all settings of the phone but in vain.
ANY ideas from anyone out there?????????????????
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

Hi iMaiso. I read your warning on the 1st page. During the installation all went ok But I too, do not have the sim applications on my Iphone. If I put my original card in another phone the sim applications are there. In my note 725 above although the phone will not ring, if I switch it on my self at the time of the call it rings normally otherwise I will find a missed call when I put it on myself

Hi iMaso, First thank you for the great tutorial. I am definately a newbie on this and quite 'IT challenged' when it comes to programming etc. Followed your tut & was able to easily downgrade/activate/jailbreak the OTB 1.1.2 US iPhone (wk 50) I bought for my wife for Xmas. Our IT director who had one unlocked earlier was not aware at that time it could not be unlocked, but that is no big problem since my wife is happy (she had no iPod before and is okay using it as such until unlock is found - I may use the Turbo Sim if that will not be found after 1.1.3 is released)
I read all the posts on this thread (yes all 73 pages) to ensure I won't bother you with a question you have already answered million times and hopefully I have not missed it (if you have already dealt with this - my apologies).
As noted before I had no problems in getting to the step where I have jailbreaked/activated 1.1.1. but the problem comes when I tried to update back to 1.1.2 via iTunes and the jailbreak it with jailbreak.jar file which I downloaded as per your tut. When it tried to connect to my iPhone it somehow failed and I got a message 'tmp55326.exe has stopped working'. I tried it several times - same result. Then not being sure whether my wife's new laptop (running on windows Vista) had Java installed (I saw that on your later posts), I installed the latest version and tried again. Same result but now the message had just changed to 'tmp 30735 has stopped working'. In addition, one of pop-ups asking whether to search for solution to problem cannot be gotten rid of (everytime I close, it pops back up again and I have to reboot to get rid of it).
I know you are more of a 'Mac expert' and I suspect this is a 'PC problem' but I am hoping that you or one of your friends can help me so that I will end up with a jailbreaked 1.1.2 version and eventually try the Turbo Sim method (if an unlock for this firmware/bootloader combination is not found soon).
Thanking you in advance and sorry about such a long first post.
PS. I did install Oktoprep successfully (got the message on the phone saying so)via Tweaks 1.1.1.before trying to update back to 1.1.2 as tut told me to do, and the Installer is working fine (been able to install successfully many apps) to best of my understanding.
