If one can't set the rights in WinSCP or what ever SCP client, then they can be set once the person logs into the iPhone with:

chmod 755 <filename>

(with putty)

right click mouse, go to properties and tick the following boxes

owner - tick boxes r,w and x
group - tick boxes r and x
others - tick boxes r and x

octal box will then change to 0755

I am unable to find CommunitySources through Installer. I have installed BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH but CommunitySources does not show up on the installer list. Do I need to add any additional sources to the Installer list for it to find CommunitySources?

argh. wrong expressions in the tut. as you already managed to install bsd and ssh, you already HAVE the community sources installed

oh, thanks! Didn't know i already had that. although I am wondering how come I have it. this is a brand new iphone and I didn't install it. Since, the instructions ask to install CommunitySources I am assuming it is not factory installed. confused! oh well, as long as it works. thanks again

hi,

i would like to know if in my case i would have to go through the whole downgrading and upgrading procedure as described in the tut.

my situation is that i have an 1.1.2 iphone which is activated and jailbroken (ssh,community sources, BSD subsys installed already), but of course not unlocked. my question is if i can simply go ahead and direclty jump to step 3 (the tubo sim step) and if that is all i have to do.

or do i have to go through the whole procedure again? does step 3 need to happen in an 1.1.1 environment or can i do it under 1.1.2 as well and not bother about the rest? sorry if i perhaps missed that question/answer in the gazillion posts in this thread....

my turbo sim is sitting at home and waiting to be used, but i don't dare trying if it works if i just do the sim programming.
would be a bummer if i have to do the complete thing anyways...

confirmations from this thread and others tell that step 3 (turbosim) can be done on either 1.1.1 or 1.1.2. if you have bsd and ssh installed as you say just go ahead. it should work. let me know if it did.

How can you know exactly what the IP of your iphone is. I will have to use a public wifi network. Anybody know?
