I couldn't see a real difference between the two. The baud rates are different but if it writes it writes, right?

    I would say so, yes.

Can anyone confirm that the AT&T sim can be cloned without exception?

Don't count on that, this timing attack is trivial to patch if Apple wants to. It's simply a matter of changing the function call that triggers responses to incoming or outgoing SIM communications (like calls, messages, or keepalives).

If this turns out to work, it's just a cheap variant of the TurboSIM and StealthSIM method. And I really don't think it's a good idea to spend half the money you'd pay Orange on France to unlock your phone for good on a ephemeral solution like TurboSIM.

(Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing TurboSIM -- that's NOT how their product was meant to be used. But the StealthSIM crew have no excuses: they KNOW their product will have a very short lifetime and they're making quite the dough on people that couldn't be bothered to do the software methods on <= 1.1.1, or aren't patient enough to wait for a software solution on >= 1.1.2.)

    You're absolutely right!
But people always make money out of the occasion. That's not a bad thing, as long as the solution works. There have been so many fake promisses these days...
As a freak, I'm more thinking about those people who bought an iPhone and currently simply want to use it to make their first phone call!
We still need proof that it works and some people need to invest in that. That's the stage we're now at with the Magicsim.
One person shouting it works is just not enough for me.

We'll see what happens later on in the future...

ok after allot of running around i think i have found the necessary hardware (usb reader/writer) and dual sim card (of unknown origin) but its got the same chip that i can interface with, i am testing some stuff, but so far i am having problems getting the IMSI off the AT&T card with Woron Scan, i am getting the KI's etc, but not the IMSI

i must admit i am very new to this sim-cloning/woron-scan and other apps so i am fumbling around blindly at the moment. so i need to read some tutorials and get back to ya/

I had a very interesting exchange with Eric, a MagicSIM representative. Here's the annotated transcript:

    [00:39:40] mr.thoughtcriminal says:
hello! are you available for some inquiries regarding the Dual SIM 16th?
[00:39:58] You are Worthy ! -Eric says:
    hi
[00:40:00] You are Worthy ! -Eric says:
    yes,here
    [00:40:05] mr.thoughtcriminal says:
    great.
    [00:40:23] mr.thoughtcriminal says:
does the 16th have the same feature of 15th of holding up to 6 SIMs in memory?
[00:40:32] You are Worthy ! -Eric says:
    no
[00:40:36] You are Worthy ! -Eric says:
    only 15th
Yikes -- this supports the fact that the software available on their sites is specific to the 15th; if it's at all possible to write to the 16th, I'm guessing we'll indeed need a 3rd party SIM writer software.

    [00:41:29] mr.thoughtcriminal says:
and can the 16th be written to at all, with info such as IMSI/ICCID/Ki etc?
    [00:41:36] mr.thoughtcriminal says:
or it's just a proxy to the SIMs inserted there?
[00:41:59] You are Worthy ! -Eric says:
    the second
YIKES I'm really hoping the guy is just a salesman...

    [00:44:13] mr.thoughtcriminal says:
on the 15th, I can have 6 stored SIMs plus 2 physical ones?
    [00:44:21] mr.thoughtcriminal says:
and I can switch between all 8 of them?
[00:44:27] You are Worthy ! -Eric says:
    yes
    Hmmmm... But:

    [00:49:57] mr.thoughtcriminal says:
and when I switch the SIMs it the dual SIM card first disconnects from the phone, does the switch, and reconnects, right?
    [00:50:19] mr.thoughtcriminal says:
as in, for a short while, it reports NO SIM PRESENT
    [00:50:25] mr.thoughtcriminal says:
    would that be correct?
[00:57:34] You are Worthy ! -Eric says:
some mobile will indicate like this
Which means that the dual SIM holder will disconnect itself from the phone while switching. It's already established that the 1.1.2 (any unhacked firmware versions actually) detects the change ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=EhVSM0pfcGc ) at and will refuse to drive an unauthorised SIM (on unhacked firmware).

Anyway, he seemed interested in contacting the programmers of the embedded software on the SIM and creating a StealthSIM knockoff that will cost much less.

    Fingers crossed...
