I will be going to my chinese friend's cell phone shop in about 2 and a half hours. he told me this last week as if he knew something was going to be possible this week. If he manages to do this i will give him the 100 bucks and post pictures of my phone i will take pics today showing the bootloader and the modem firmware it currently has and will show comparison shots later today to show the end result. the IMEI will be proof that it's the same iphone. I hate giving false hope so please understand that i am closing this thread as soon as i get home if he is unable to perform the unlock! this guy has unlocked tons of iphones before including my first iphone so he is trustworthy. too bad i'm 99% certain he won't show me how it's done obviously since he wants to get 100 USD per unlock but hey i just want my phone unlocked already!!!

Crack the back and lets see the hardwired soldered *sim. Hopefully it's a better job than the last one I saw.. damn that thing had wires going everywhere.

i guess that would be easy to find out by inserting sims of different carriers, and besides if the iphone is opened it can hardly go unnoticed

There are wayt to open an iphone and leave no marks.
There are tutorials at sites that sell the communication module if you bricked yours and other stuff!

he was unable to unlock my phone but something good came from it, we now know what's up with "mercadolibre.com" or whatever it's called. he paid 5000 to some weirdo in mexico since he has bought unlock methods from him before but this time it didn't work out the way he thought. what this guy sold him was 100 turbosims at 50 USD each but didn't tell him this till after he shipped it. so in reality the guy wasn't stealing the 5000 USD but he was lying about whether or not it would be a software unlock or not. my friend had a plan B which was was using a method he bought on ebay from a guy with positive feedback and all but ha! here's another scam that'll be cleared some idiot on ebay is selling the 1.1.2 OTB unlock method......right....looks promising but if anyone gets into it be careful..toward the bottom of the description he writes "turbo sim not included all i am selling is the instructions on how to use it!"
i guess all this is good since this guy's cellphone shop has made most of his money in 2007 thanks to iphone unlocking and now that it's not so possible him as well as other cell phone shops owners in NYC are getting a little desperate and risking whatever they can to get an unlock and get their sales back up. so we'll keep using them as punching bags. i'll post a new thread clearing other scams as soon as i receive info. i keep contact with 3 NYC shop owners including one in chinatown that makes a living selling bootleg turbosims that work!.
