HHey,

I have a next sim here but i cant for the life of me get it working.

Can anybody give me an exact step by step set of instructions on how i can unlock my iphone so i can at least start using it with my o2 PAYG sim card?

The firmware im using is 1.1.2, and week number from the serial number is 51

Like i said, ill pay anybody who can literally give me an "idots list" on what i need to do in order to unlock it and start using it.

whats exactly the problem? is the phone already jailbroken and activated?

Hi,

no i purchased the iphone the other day from ebay. it had not been touched so was an out of the box. It came with a NextSim which supposedly unlocks the fone allowing you to use a prepay sim card in the fone, however i cannot get that working.

Therefore i need a way to unlock my iphone so i can use it with my prepay sim card. there seems to be so many ways to do it, some say they work on 1.1.2 versions, others say they dont, others say they only unlock the ipod features etc etc.

So all i need is a way to allow me to use my prepay sim card in my new iphone, and im willing to pay somebody to literally spell it out for me as im not to clever with how its all done.

ok, I see. that should be easy.
go to this thread and do what is written in my tutorial:

do step 1 and 2 from that tutorial.
do NOT do step 3, as it is only for turbosim, which needs to be programmed in order to be used, while your nextsim probably wont.
after you finished step 2 of the tutorial, on your phone go to installer and install the BSD subsystem and openSSH.
THEN get back to me / to this thread and/or go straight on and insert your sim with the nextsim, turn off the phone, turn it back on, install iworld (installer/tweaks 1.12) and set it to your country,
you should be done by then.
if you dont like my tutorial, or feel unsafe with it, go to iclarified.com, they have the best tutorials, complete with screenshots and so on. if you can´t do it according to THOSE, you shouldn´t do it at all

OK i tried what you said, downloaded the update from the website, when i went to install, after selecting the 1.1.1 restore, an error message appeared which read "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occured. (1)" and the setup cancelled.

ok, try again. please download the 1.1.1 firmware once more (delete the old one) and make sure your browser is set NOT to expand/extract archives after downloading them.
after that, go once more to DFU mode, let itunes find your phone in recovery mode and do alt/restore (mac) / shift/restore (windows), to RESTORE back to 1.1.1. in the end of that error 1015 should be displayed!

Yeah im getting the same problem. Downloaded this time from 2 seperate sources. the apple website again, and one other website which offered the 1.1.1 for download. i received the same error again when trying to restore using each of the 2 new copies.

i ensured my browser wasnt set to expand the files, i did that using winrar, so i dont think that would be the problem, but then....i have no idea what the problem is. lol. i just know im dieing to use my new gadget, and i cant use it :'(

I am really quite wondering now why that wont work. thing is: the firmware file is a zip archive, but which doesnt end on .zip but on .ipsw. and the downloadlink in my tutorial is absolutely valid, dozens of people used that firmware before you and everything worked fine. you might also check the firmware posted here : http://iphone.unlock.no/#restore-firmware-files but it should be similar to mine. this error 1 thing is weird, I will try and find out how to solve it.

which itunes version are you using and which OS?
are you using an USB 2.0 port?

meaning: check on your itunes version, check on your usb port, check if you put the phone into dfu mode just like you should have.

thanks for your continued help. I am using vista 32bit however i have just read somewhere that if using vista, you need to use an older version of itunes to restore an older version of the firmware, so i am just in the prcess of downloading itunes 7.3 to give that a try. i will let you know the outcome. im hoping for the best.
