The other things that I noticed...
After ramdisk, I have to unplug the iphone and plug it in. should Ido as mentioned on the wave...?
    iRecovery -f iBEC.n88ap.RELEASE.dfu
    iRecovery -c go

Also, after I run the bootx command, I get "Attempting to validate kernelcache @ 0x41000000"
but then it just goes in to another command line. I dont get "Loading kernel cache at 0x43000000...data starts at 0x43000180"

Looks like you already got ssh to work, those things are irrelevant.
Now you need to run fsck and mount:
    fsck_hfs /dev/disk
    mount_hfs /dev/disk /mnt2

where disk is either disk0s2 (iPhone 2G and 3G) or disk0s2s1 (iPhone 3GS)
then use WinSCP to copy files from /mnt2

Everything works!!!! Thank you so very much!!!!
I was able to mount the disks. I was using the wrong naming convention.
I ended up backing up (copying) all of my data. And doing a complete DFU restore to 3.12. After Blackra1n J/B I ssh'ed into it and copied my data back. Contacts, sms, etc. The only thing is to use 'mobile' not 'root' when copying the files over. use 'root' to delete the folder completely, and 'mobile' to copy new folders. This only pertains to items inside 'mobile' folder. -anyways, its a different subject.
    God bless you all!
    msft.guy and Olethros
    thank you!!!!

    Default any other way ?

I don't have the iboot or shsh prerequisites... am I SOL ?

I even tried canihazrecover it always fails at the first part...

is there a prebuilt ipsw that leaves media when rewriting ?

I'll try anything at this point ...

If it is a 3G, you don't need the SHSH pre-req, nor do you need a pre-pwned iBoot. These two requirements are only for 3GS and recent iPod touch models.

We cannot link to prebuilt IPSW on this forum. That constitutes illegal redistribution of copyrighted apple binaries.
This is why pwnagetool and even redsn0w require that you provide an original IPSW.

    Default Stuck after ramdisk

I run ramdisk and this is what I have.

    Found iphone/ipod in recovery mode
limiting USB input current to 100 mA
    ]ramdisk
creating ramdisk at 0X44000000 of size 0xeacc00, from image at 0X41000000
    ]

The video that msftguy posted on youtube shows a command prompt so that I can enter the kernelcache. How do I get to that?

    Thanks

Also, do I need to start from the beginning or just start from here.

I had to come on here and say thank you msft.guy, i fixed my iPhone 3gs i renamed MobileSubstrate.dylib and it arsed up my phone lol but all fixed now.

Little batch file to do it all for you all the ramdisk uploading, all you need to do is get your version of the files.

    Code:
    @echo OFF
    irecovery -f *.dmg.ssh
    pause
    irecovery -c ramdisk
    pause
    irecovery -f kernelcache.release.*
    pause
    irecovery -c bootx
    pause
    for itunnel
    Code:
    itunnel_mux_r5 22 2022
Thanks again and never rename MobileSubstrate.dylib

I'm having two problems. I followed the instructions to the letter.

First is, when I use the irecovery.exe command, my 3G reboots (endlessly) the instant I enter the "-c ramdisk". I don't think that's supposed to happen.

Second, when I run the itunnel_mux_r6.exe command, this is what I get:
It seems to get stuck after loading the dfu.

    C:\iphone>itunnel_mux_r6.exe --ibec iBEC.m68ap.RELEASE.dfu --ramdisk 018-6136-01
    4.dmg.ssh --devicetree DeviceTree.m68ap.img3 --kernelcache kernelcache.release.s
