Exclamation WinSCP permission to change properties

I can easily SSH into my iFone 3G 2.1 using WinSCP.

I am trying to run through the procedure that will allow myself to add ipa's. I get to the step where you must change the file, MobileInstallation, to have read/write allowances by entering 0777. When I hit OK, I receive this error:

    Permission denied.
    Error code: 3
Error message from server: Permission denied
    Request code: 9

Has anyone heard about this issue? I'm sort of new at messing around with the whole jailbreaking deal. I used QuickPWN to jailbreak her, and it said something about virtual environments. Is this one of those situations? Any help is appreciated! I'm eager to get these 3rd party apps tossed on here!

    Bob

Sounds more like a problem inside your phone than in WinSCP. Maybe you shoudl re-install OpenSSH (it seems that something in there isn't allowed to make these changes).

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

Are you logging in with WinSCP using the root account? If you're using mobile, that's the cause of the problem.

Maybe you can give a detailed step-by-step description of what you do?
