[VPN] Official Cisco support (working / not working) on 2.0 Firmware
Hi fellow Hackint0sher...
I bought a Iphone 3g with rogers and at work, we have the cisco vpn client on our pc
So I entered all the setting in it including the group password decrypted of course using a web site found in google...
The VPN at work is configured to have the user enter his password each time it connect even if the password is memorized is the vpn client. So when I hit connect on the iphone, It seem to work but I have a "ENTER YOUR USER INFORMATION" error or something like that and then 30 sec later I have "CISCO VPN FAILED"
no windows to enter my password is displayed. Is someone managed to make it work. I need it to have my exchange setted up on the phone...
Post your experience with the vpn, witch type of connection do you have and the most important, DOES IT WORK
Thanks

We use the Groups plus user authentication - authenticating with SecureID.
I leave user filled in, but password blank and when I turn on VPN works.
So yes, it worked, once I had the group password, it took 30 seconds to get working.
Exchange is another issues, as well as VPN seems to ignore web proxy settings.

Thread renamed and moved as it is not related to 3G iPhones but 2.0 Firmware instead.

2.0....
802.1x WEP wireless.... authenticates, but after connecting to the dhcp server, it fails... that apple config utility that creates profiles.. did not help in any way...

ohh my god, I tried this morning and bam. IT WORKS I can connect to my work vpn. IDK why yesterday it wasn't working but now it works.
Exchange tho doesn't seem to work so having the vpn working is pointless

Check with your IT Deparment. Usually it is a quick set-up to allow iPhones into the VPN...Trust me, im trying to get my IT college department to do it but they are stubborn

Has anyone else found the VPN to be flakey? Mine drops in and out - switching from Wifi to cell network kills it, signal strength changes kill it, sometimes it dies for no reason. It's really a pain to have to manually make sure the VPN is active so that I can get "push" email!!
Apple should really have built some toggle in to the email app that you can set so that it makes sure the vpn is active before checking the mail account. Maybe it can be done via some third party app.

I got the VPN working. It connects fine on shows no problems. Also the exchange server says that certificate is verified and shows no problems but I just don't get e-mails or contact or anything. What could be the problem?

In my company we use Mutual Group Authentication in the Cisco VPN connection.
I am at the window where I can see all values below:
Connection entry (I can see and copy-paste it)
Host (I can see and copy-paste it)
Name (I can see and copy-paste it)
Passwd (encoded, in ********* format)
Confirm Passwd (encoded, in ********* format)
When I try to copy-paste the passwd to the decode tool ( http://www.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/~massar/bin/cisco-decode ) it does not work. It does not 'copy' it to clipboard.
I can therefore not obtain the passwd so cannot setup VPN on my iphone...
Any tips?
