[VNSea] Using it on Internet
VNSea (or actually Touchpad) is a fantastic program with one flaw: if connecting to the internet via wifi, the only way I have found to connect to the VNC server on my computer is through an ad hoc network.
I tried connecting to VNC with both the iPhone and my laptop connected directly to the internet but the VNC client on the iphone just reads "connecting" ad infinitum.
This may have something to do with my excessively secure campus network blocking any and every connection (thanks to p2p I assume)
Microsoft Research came up with a program called VirtualWifi but thanks again to the encryption on the school network, I had no luck.
Any suggestions? It would be great to surf using my laptop screen and iPhone interface.
A part of me hopes that technology like this will bring about a change in the way we surf the net, Perhaps realistic 3d browsing using head tracking, multi touch and accelerometer control. Imagine your "laptop" being nothing more than a 3" projector connected to a supercharged iPhone.

Hi...
Well first of all I use Touchpad or VNSea normaly (meaning not just ad-hoc connection). It all depends in your network connection.
You have to be connected in the same LAN to use the software's or you must have a public IP (which is unique) to use it.
I use the same LAN method because I dont have public IP. So basically my computer is on a network which is also shared with wireless. That means if my computer has a 192.168.0.1 IP then wireless computer which can be connected will have 192.168.0.2 IP and theyre on the same network same gateway (router).
The second method which I use (at my work) is with VPN. So I connect to internet via Wi-Fi, then connect to VPN, then open VNSea (Touchpad) and connect to the computer.

First of all did you install somekind of a vnc client in your computer? If yes then just check your computers ip address and put it in vnsea or touchpad and thats it.

how to install a vnc client

If you are using a mac, you could go to "system preferences>sharing" and check "screen sharing". If you are on windows you can download a vnc server like "vine server"
