    Default Uninstall Summerboard Alpha from 1.1.1

    Hello,

    Summerboard Support doesn't answer, so i'll hope someone here knows an answer: How to deinstall the ALPHA of Summerboard? For install i have to copy an owerwrite some .plists.. I was so stupid and do not backup the originals..

    I have no need for summerboard and it makes my apps names white and not longer grey, so i decided to deinstall it. First try gives an endless boot, but i could restore it..

    So, if anybody has an idea, pls help. :-)

    Regards,
    Tabula

    Basically you just have to restore the original /System/Library/CoreServices/com.apple.Springboard.plist. That will prevent Summboard from launching. If you also want to temove the files, than besides restoring the plist you have to delete
    /Library/Frameworks/SummerBoard.framework
    /Applications/SMBPrefs.app
    /var/root/Library/SummerBoard/Themes

    Were you using the summerboard 3.0a11?

    I want to uninstall Summerboard 3.0a11 from my CARNAVAL Jailbreaked/AnySim 1.1.1 unlocked iphone running 1.1.1.

    When I tried to uninstall it from installer.app, it said that when i removed it that i may not be able to launch 3rd party apps.

    I only installed it to try and get a vertical scroll, but now I just want to go back to what I had, the plain-jane springboard.

    Can anyone help?

    How do you "restore the original /System/Library/CoreServices/com.apple.Springboard.plist."?

    This is not clear. Is he saying that it's one or the other? Either restore the .plist or remove the above mentioned files?

    Can someone please clarify this so that I don't end up bricking my phone? I would love to get rid of entire the Summerboard program and not just the SMBPrefs which has disappeared.

    When installing summerboard, the original springboard.plist is saved on the iphone under /Library/Frameworks/Summerboard/Summerboard.framework

    Just Copy Paste it over

    And If you've deleted that one too, you can also just edit the springboard.plist in /System/Library/Launchdaemons. Open the plist in texteditor and delete these lines to get back to the original state:

    <key>EnvironmentVariables</key>
    <dict>
    <key>DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES</key>
    <string>/Library/Frameworks/SummerBoard.framework/SummerBoard.dylib</string>
    </dict>

    Then save it back to the iPhone. Works fine. Actually, deleting these lines (or restoring the original springboard.plist) is all that's necessary to 'uninstall' Summerboard. The other stuff is just cleaning up.

    Then Delete: Marked in RED Files

    /Library/Frameworks/SummerBoard.framework
    /Applications/SMBPrefs.app
    /var/root/Library/SummerBoard/Themes

    Then Restart Phone and its done

    Okay after accessing the iPhone via Cyberduck I've come across the following:

    I've located the com.apple.SpringBoard.plist and have found this section:

    <key>EnvironmentVariables</key>
    <dict>
    <key>DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES</key>
    <string>/Library/Frameworks/SummerBoard.framework/SummerBoard.dylib</string>
    </dict>

    I've also located the SummerBoard folder here:

    /var/root/Library/SummerBoard/Themes

    However, there is no SummerBoard.framework in /Library/Frameworks/

    and

    There is no SMBPrefs.app in /Applications/

    Is there a problem that those files don't exist?

    No it Shouldn't matter.

    I'm guessing then you don't have an icon on the springboard if you haven't got SMBPrefs.app available to remove.

    If you back up that file you have found delete the parts i said it should be ok..

    Remember back up the file before removing the text as worse case your phone will sit on the apple screen after reboot, but you will still be able to ssh into the phone and replace it if something should go wrong.

    but I'm pretty shore it will work fine as i have done this a few times before myself

    Does the new Summerboard version 3.0b1-1 as listed in Installer require a special route to uninstall as well or can it be uninstalled properly straight from Installer without having to do any extra file search & destroying?

    I'm on 1.1.1 btw
