Then rename it from m4a to m4r format.

Use iPhoneBrowser to transfer it onto iPhone...

This way, ringtone can be longer than 30 seconds & it's much simple...
What is the directory to upload the m4r files to, in order to bypass the 30 sec limitation? I suppose I can use iPhone PC Suite in place of iPhoneBrowser. Thanks!

I had the same problem with the duplicate ringtones. I found a workaround that synced my ringtones correctly. On iTunes, click on your iPhone. There are several settings in the main page, the one that you should look for is "Manually manage my music and videos". Untick this box and sync the ringtones that are on your library. This worked for me. The only downside of this method is that now you cant manually manage your media on your iPhone. I hope it works for you!

You should check your iTunes settings. On the import tab, put AAC as the format of choice. I think this may be your problem.

I also managed to create these ringtones, and they seem to sync to my iPhone, but they don't show up on my iPhone. Maybe because I'm on 1.1.4?
