Due to recent turmoil with 1.1.3 and going back to 1.1.2, all my contacts have been duplicated, but only on the phone, not in Outlook.
Has anyone an idea how I can easily get rid of them? I have hundreds and really dont want to spend a long time erasing them one by one...

Sigh, come on, that's easy. If you have them in Outlook, just hit "replace contacts on the phone" in itunes and let it sync one time.

Well, sorry to be so stupid. But I just looked for a button that says that, and just can't find it.
Would you be kind enough to take me by my hand?

Why don't they keep all the Sync options in one place anyway?

You're welcome. It's probably down there because it's not frequently used and is actually dangerous if your address book is empty on the pc but have a bunch of contacts in your phone.

I ticked the box, pressed sync, and they're still all there in the duplicate glory!

Did you have outlook open and selected outlook as your address list source on the top of the page ?

Are you certain you don't have duplicate entries on your outlook as well ?

I've done it before and it worked very nicely for me.

I have this same issue. I got a new Iphone and when the folks at the apple store copied my contacts over they also appeared in "U" for unknown. So when someone calls it says Unknown + name or 2 others".

I did the same thing but I still have the dupes. Frustrating!!!

I got it to work:
I copied all my contact in Outlook to a new Contacts Folder, and erased them all from the main folder. Then synchronised with the "replace contacts on phone" option. Now then phone was empty, I copied the contacts back to the normal folder in Outlook, and synched once again.

Good job. It sounds like another itunes bug, not working nicely with outlook.
