Hi,

is it possible to ssh one distant machine, create a tunnel (smtp for ex) and then back to mail application, use this tunnel to send emails (wifi via smtp and tunnel)?

Rk: i can do the tunnel ssh -N -f nom_login@sas.math.jussieu.fr -L1025:mailhost.math.jussieu.fr:25 sleep 60 for example, but i don't even know (i suspect this is yes) if it stays open when i go back to mail...

Hi I am not sure about mail.app but I have been successfully using the same command to forward TouchPadPro to my vnc enabled server.

What I have done is setup a script which I run from terminal and then exit out. It still keeps running in the background. I use the (&) option at the end of the command that way even if I exit out of Terminal it doesnt kill ssh forwarding.

Try it out should work unless mail.app is just like safari which doesnt work.
