Default [SSH] Installed but no icon on springboard

I went through this guide on installing SSH: http://www.modmyiphone.com/wiki/inde..._1.1.1_Windows

however I did it twice pretty much (because first time I accidentally pressed a button in cmd earlier than I was 'supposed?' to. Anyways, I did it right the second time. However, I see no SSH icon on my main screen - is it installed or what? Please let me know, want to continue on with installing BSD. Thanks!

The SSH icon you want to see is just an app that will switch SSH ON/OFF.

If you want to use SSH, you must connect with WinSCP or Putty.

True , it is required for the actual entering and editing files on your phone. Without ssh installed, your winscp will return a "connection refused" error, and will not work. So make sure it is installed by simply going to your installer and clicking on uninstall to see what you have installed. Also, get Community services, as well as BsD subsystem. peace.

By the way, you should install netservice, service or UIctl... This are apps that allow you to shut ssh (and other net services) down or turn it back on .... I mentioned this, because it has been said that having ssh on all the time affects your battery life (it is a proccess running) and besides that it is a security issue, especially if you haven't change the default pwd.

Installing OpenSSH does not affect the battery life at all.

Does OpenSSH require BSD subsystems? BSD is pretty big and none of the other programs I have installed use it.

Yes it does, but you won't have to worry later about turning the ssh service on/off.

It is not that big (~6MB), especially when you have moved the Applications folder to your Media partition.

So XianLi, moving that folder is done with Winscp?
I read that the default applications folder can hold up to 50 mb, so moving it should deliver into more capacity.

im using windows and I can't find a good description of what exactly is SSH, I know it is used to communicate and manipulate the files in the iPhone trough a computer over Wi-Fi but, is it REALLY necessary to have/install? as well as BSD Subsystem(which by the way, I don't know nothing about)

Any thread containing these details? Thanks!

SSH gives you the ability to remotely connect to your phone by using Wifi.

So you can take control of it (using the terminal) and modify/launch/stop services, move/rename/delete files and more, just like it you were in the phone itself.

When OpenSSH is installed on your phone, you can also connect by using SFTP (WinSCP for Win, CyberDuck for Mac) and drag/drop files/applications, change files permissions.

You can move the Applications folder to your Media Partition.
    (explained in this thread http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16353)

Don't hesitate to use the search (with right keywords)
