ok guys, i've had limited success with webshell 0.9.5. It will log in, and it works for a brief second but then the webshell restarts. Any ideas? I will be trying the older version and updating my findings.

Please do keep us updated!
It's upsetting we can't do something as simple as authenticate and stay on.....

I'm in the same boat. I had webshell working for a brief second, it is getting very frustrating. I just need something that works.

ok, now take this with a grain of salt, because currently my iphone has just been unwrapped, and it hasn't ever been powered up yet, but take a look at this page . . .
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/li...ry/l-keyc.html
that shows you how to generate keys, upload them, and then it even has a script to use to connect with out a password. That should help, i will be working on the same also, but more for DNS tunneling, stupid coffee shop internet prices

Hello,
...install Term-vt100 Version 206 from http://code.google.com/p/mobileterminal/
(the Term-vt-100 from "Installer" is 198...) 206 run in "background" and it is possible
to start ssh-tunnel and change to VNC or Browser...whatever.

Sweet
That's confirmed. Thanks for the heads up. Very handy to be able to run stuff in the background now without any effort.
Very very helpful for SSH tunneling, etc.
Boing! Boing!

That's comforting to hear!
But how does one ssh-tunnel to start Safari?

just put it in the background with nohup?

Now i'm not that experienced with ssh and tunnels. Have only been using putty and following guides. But would be nice to get this to work with the iPhone.
What is the easiest way to create a ssh tunnel now with vt-100 ver 206?
If it is possible to create a ssh tunnel now, wouldnt it be possible for someone with some programming experience to create some tunnelapp. So when configured you only have to toggel a switch to create the tunnel and then open safari and use the tunnel? That would be really nice and easy for a computer dummy like me.
