The Missing Piece of Software We REALLY Need

Let's say Apple updates the firmware to 1.1.1, or whatever, and the current unlocking method breaks.

We need a 3rd party way to update firmware to iPhones, rather than doing it through iTunes. Because let's say I go buy an iPhone tomorrow and it has 1.0.0 on it. When I try to update my iPhone to 1.0.2 I won't be able to, because iTunes will automatically take it to 1.1.1.

If this does exist already, please point me in the proper direction. If not, is this a good idea?

Hello, im getting my iPhone tomorrow and i was worried about the exact same thing, so i downloaded firmware 1.0.2 from this site, http://www.modmyiphone.com/forums/do...do=file&id=479. After that was downloaded, i opened iTunes, clicked Edit, and unchecked "look for updates automatically", and voila!

I have the same thing downloaded, but iTunes doesnt allow you to use that file, it still makes me download the firmware.... Unless i'm doing something incorrectly....

just place the file you downloaded into the downloads section where itunes downloads your firmware

I've done that. My download directory has 1.0, 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 and it does not ask me what I want to restore.

Do I need to use itunes 7.3.0.54 instead of 7.4.2.1?
