Looking for non-iTunes backup app or desktop program for iPhone?
I am on iPhone 3G Firmware 2.0.
I am looking for an iPhone app or desktop Vista program to backup my entire iPhone (including jailbroken settings and apps). I do not want to use iTunes backup as iTunes backup is totally broken and completely unreliable and takes hours to do each time.
I prefer one that can backup via USB rather than WiFi.
I am having great difficulty finding such a software. I found two app/programs:
2) iPranks Backup utility
but both do not support Firmware 2.x and it looks like that development of them have been completely halted.
Can someone please give me some suggestions?
i-FunBox is an iPhone file browser for any iPhone. No jailbreak needed, no hack, no deamon install.
i-FunBox, or iFunBox, is an iPhone file manager for transfering and maintaining media, files and directories on iPhones and iPods.
It works with iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch in Firmwire1.x and 2.0 even without JB (jailbreak).
It is a Windows application compatible with WinXP 32bit and Windows Vista 32/64bit.
what u should do is click the UPDATE button in itunes so u update to 2.1 and back up using 2.1 and itunes 8. it now takes me 10 seconds or less to back up my phone
MacBook Pro OS X SNOW Leopard
iPhone 4 16GB
iPad WiFi 64GB iOS 4.2
BlackBerry Curve 3G (9300)
Apart from updating to 2.1 (which is definitely recommended), you could try the backup function in iPhoneBrowser -- though it's still in beta. See http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52193

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.
Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
* on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
* on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).
