Awesome. The best video converter ever. It would be even nicer if it can combine the .SRT subtitles as well!

Hello and thank you all for trying out the software.

I have got many requests for subtitles. I am studying how to do it. Since I have been busy doing other things, I still haven't upgraded my iPhone. (it is still on 1.1.1. "Proper" subtitle support was added in 1.1.3)

Another problem to solve is that by letting users choose which subtitle to add, the UI will be more complicated. This will be against the goal for ease of use. I will have to meditate on how to add this functionality without complicating the UI.

    Thanks again!

    Another question:

Is it possible to set the video bit rate to 64? This will even lower the size more...

Most video players settle for using a subtitle file whose name is the same as the video file's.

I mean, if you have a file named:

    How I met 24 Heroes Lost in a House.avi

You could use a subtitle file named:

    How I met 24 Heroes Lost in a House.srt

    if present, of course.

However, when I asked for subtitles support, I was talking about changing the video stream so that the subtitles are embedded in it. PocketDivXEncoder does it, for example (unluckily, it doesn't have mp4 output support).

Anyway, thank you for you work, I use your program whenever I don't have/need subtitles for a file.

    hi!
i love your program a lot that i actually leave it on for longer than i can remember to convert many movies...
im not too sure of the auto-crop feature tho.
when the feature was on during conversion, the movie still shows those black borders on the top and bottom and the movie is playing in the middle like a ribbon ()
how do i make it fill up the whole screen without cutting off the edges by pressing the top right button to zoom in?
    im using release.16.

i always convert movies I download via torrent...does it depend on the resolution the dvd ripper rips the videos to?

    if not,any idea why please?

    dont get me wrong...its a great program...5/5

Ah ha. Nice lead. Thanks for showing the example of the kind of output you are talking about. I will take a look at PocketDivXEncoder.

I am about to be in the middle of another business project right now, so sorry for the late reply. kvip will come around and get updated.

I assume you already have the auto-crop feature enabled. It is off by default and you need to enable it using kvip config (see my first post to see how).

One way to check whether the auto-cropping is working well for you is to play the converted video on the PC. I highly recommend SMPlayer http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/

When you play the converted video on the PC, is the black border still there? If not, then the black borders on the video have been cropped.

When you are playing the video on the iphone, the iphone will try best to fit the video onto its screen. If the video's aspect ratio differs from the iphone's display aspect ratio, you can choose between two things:

    1. Have video "zoomed in" to fill the screen, and you will miss out some part of the video. This is similar to "pan and scan" format.

    2. Have the video fit inside the display screen. This will result in black borders on iphone screen.

You can toggle between 1. and 2. by double-tapping the iphone screen when the video is playing.

My program, by default, is optimized to have the best picture quality when you do 2. above, BUT there is a hidden feature to get good picture quality for case 1.

In order to optimize video for 1, open up kvip.ini file with a text editor. This file resides in the same directory that you have the program installed. Then, look for the line that says:

    ini_resize_large_mode=0

change 0 to 1, and your video will look very nice when you zoom in. The side effect of setting this parameter to 1 is that the video size will be larger and the video conversion time will probably be longer.

    im using release.16.

It will depend on the aspect ratio of the movie you are trying to convert. It should not depend on the resolution of the video, though. Try the suggestion above and see whether you get a more pleasant result.

Thanks for your feedback. I hope the above helps!

    Just one small question:
Is it possible to lower the video bitrate to 64? That can lower the size even more.
