Default iTunes 7.4 BREAKS YouTube patched .plist files

When updating to iTunes 7.4, I had to repatch the activation .plist files located in /private/var/root/library/lockdown in order to get YouTube working again. Once I patched the 4 .plist files, replaced the .pem files with the ones included in the YouTube file package, and rebooted, YouTube worked over EDGE and WiFi (I'm on T-Mobile).

HOWEVER, iPhone no longer USB connects to the computer. I mean no iTunes, no iPHuc, no iNdependence, no iASign. Nothing. Everything command-line based returns a bus error.

I thankfully backed up the original .plist and .pem files before I patched them. I replaced the .pem files first, and rebooted. Still won't connect to iTunes.

Replaced the .plist files with the originals, and rebooted. iPhone now connects via USB to iTunes and everything else again.

I went through this process twice to make sure I got it right, and it was identical.

You are warned, until someone figures out a new patch for YouTube, all non-AT&T activated iPhones can either sync with iTunes or have YouTube...NOT both.

Ok, correction...patching those files and uploading them to iPhone on Mac disables the USB connection. Either I am using an outdated method/files (from the youtube.zip that expands into a folder called 'The Three Files'), or something is built into the Mac version of iTunes 7.4 that disallows iPhone USB connections with this Device Certificate on it.

Any light you guys can shed on if you activated YouTube on a Mac and how you did it would be great, thanks.

I have no idea why my method isn't working.

I too had the problem where Youtube would not work after the 7.4 update.

Below is the sequence I went through to get it back.

    Background:

4G iPhone, HW unlock, T-Mobile prepaid SIM, iNdependence based jailbreak, iPhuc used for activation (putfile patched lockdownd onto phone). The HW unlock was done prior to the release of iTunes 7.4

I did the 7.4 iTunes upgrade via OSX Software Update.

I did the 25 second hold of sleep and home button, connected to iTunes 7.4 and did a full 1.02 restore. This of course put the phone back into an unactivated state.

I used iNdependance 1.1.1 to jailbreak the phone. Version 1.1.1 is mandatory since I did the upgrade to iTunes 7.4

I used iPhuc to put a patched version of "lockdownd" into /usr/libexec (iPhuc sequence was "setafc com.apple.afc2" and then "putfile ./lockdownd /usr/libexec/lockdownd"

    Rebooted phone

Phone now activated, HW unlock NOT affected. T-Mobile prepaid SIM works again. I connected to iTunes and did a sync as if it were a new iPhone.

    Youtube would NOT work.

I then added SSH via iNdependance (was going to do that anyway). I use Fugu to make file operations easier so this was necessary.

I then added AppTapp Installer (was going to do that anyway). Not actually needed for fixing Youtube.

What I did specifically to get Youtube back:

    1. Deleted plist file in /var/root/Library/Lockdown/pair_records directory
    2. Removed the pair_records directory
    3. Copied the three files used for Youtube activation: data_ark.plist, device_private_key.pem & device_public_key.pem from my OSX PPC G5 system into /var/root/Library/Lockdown using Fugu.
    4. Exited all connections from iPhone
    5. Connected iPhone to iTunes and sync'd
    6. Disconnect from iTunes
    7. Reboot

    Youtube back.

I have since repeated the exact same sequence with identical results just to make sure. I got Youtube back.

Updated to 7.4.1 on Mac. Sync and youtube works fine. But I did a restore in 7.3, upgraded to 7.4.1 and did a restore again.

Man I just realized I have the same problem!! As a matter of fact iPhoto can see when I connect/disconnect the phone, but iTunes doesnt. So do I have to replace both the .plist and .pem files with the originals? Do you have them (I don't).
It's not though a problem with the USB port. I can use some programs with the phone.. I think it's more a question of iTunes not seeing it for some reason.
