For Windows :
- Plug in your IPhone, and cancel the windows pop-up box
- Click Start -> Control Panel -> Scanners & Cameras
You should see a "Apple IPhone" listed as a digital camera. Right-Click -> Properties -> Events (Tab) -> Select "Take No Action"

From now on you shouldn't get the windows pop-up When pluggin in the Iphone

for all you mac users out there without "image Capture" app...
when opening the iphoto, enter the "Preferences" either by hitting "⌘+," or just from the menu called "iPhoto" at the top left corner.
almost at the bottom of the poped-up window you will see "connecting camera opens:" select "No application".
this should solve your problem...
