Default Installer.app's BSD Subsystem Package Offline?

I got to a point in my down/up grade process that I really need the BSD subsystem - but the package seems to have been taken offline or has a broken link. When I click "install" it tried to download the package but quickly fires back:

"Error. Package download failed: Can't find host".

Can anyone suggest an alternative method for locating or installing this package, or suggest a solution?

You can install it manually but if you're not used to using command line, just wait until the package is online again.

    MAC

Download and extract the following files:

    http://iphone.natetrue.com/BSD_Base-2.0.tar.gz
    http://iphone.natetrue.com/BSD_Extra-2.0.tar.gz

    tar -zvxf BSD_Base-2.0.tar.gz
    tar -zvxf BSD_Extra-2.0.tar.gz

Change into each of these directories and run:

    cd BSD_Base
    scp -r * root@[IPHONE IP]:/
    cd ../BSD_Extra
    scp -r * root@[IPHONE IP]:/

Install the Base package first, afterwards the Extra package.

Sorry, can't help with Windows install instructions.

    Hi,

I guess the actual problem is that BSD_Extra-2.0.tar.gz is actually BSD_Extra-2.1.tar.gz on the server, hence the package download fails…

I installed SSH/SFTP using iNdependence and thus I has already ssh on my iPhone and thus I used scp (from my Mac).

On Windows you could probably use WinSCP…

    Cheers,
    Budy
