does anybody know how to stop the ssh-server installed with independence 1.2.5? services.app doesn't show me any installed ssh-server and it's not loaded as an launchdaemon either, so no launchctl.

    thanks,

    d.

    It's there:

    launchctl list

    Shows:

    - 0 org.thebends.openssh

    Then:

    launchctl remove /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.thebends.openssh.plist

    will stop it.

Because iNdependence is running on your computer, not your phone. The virginizer needs to run on the phone.

Besides, it's not really ready for prime time yet. It hasn't worked for me at all.

I know that the virginizer needs to be running on the iPhone. But if we look at the procedure of the Elite Team. It seems that many things could be archived automatically with iNdependence. (Terminal code)

For example the Windows version iDemocracy makes the unlock procedure at lot easier for the users. It just copy the new AnySim to the phone and tells the user to start it. Those are little things that could make iNdependence the ultimate tool.
On the other hand....it is today already the ultimate tool

    Hi all,

I have used the virginizer successfully on several phones, and it caused no problems to me.

    Cheers,
    Budy

ok, I spent about 14 hours on it and I finally revirginized (and unlocked) my phone.

I had to use iUnlock to restore the baseband properly (bbupdater just did not work for me at all). So the instructions don't seem to work for everyone. Also, they require a lot of terminal work on the phone. So I don't think I will put anything in iNdependence for revirginization. It's just too complicated and risky at this point.

I will however put anySIM 1.1 into iNdependence and make a note that it's only for phones which were not previously unlocked. I almost had anySIM 1.0 in iNdependence, but then the 1.1.1 bricking started and so I quickly took it out.

    Default SSH unstable with inddependence

Hi, I've run into trouble with iNdependence 1.2.5's SSH implementation on two phones, both previously untouched, out of the box.

    1: week 29, orig firmware 1.0
    2: week 37, orig firmware 1.0.2

    1) had trouble finding my Wifi Network, always came back with either a self-assigned IP (169.xxx) or 192.xxx when my AirPort network runs on the 10.xxx scheme. So I restored it to 1.0.2 in iTunes (hold buttons for yellow triangle, Opt-Click on Restore). Wifi works now; both phones can access the web on Safari. Now I have basically two 1.0.2 iPhones and they behave similarly:

    Activation in iNdependence. OK.
Install SSH. OK (at least iNdependence says so)
    The status on bottom reads:
"Connected to iPhone • Firmware 1.0.2 • activated • AFC connection • jailbroken"

Trying to connect with Fetch (SFTP) times out.
correct IP (from my WiFi info screen), port 22, root/dottie
Error: "SFTP connecting to 10.0.2.11 could not be opened because the connection to the SFTP server could not be established or was lost."

    Trying to connect in Terminal:
    ssh root@10.0.2.11
cssh: connect to host 10.0.2.11 port 22: Operation timed out

    Trying to use AppTapp:
    "Error - Bootstrap failed"
also puts this in my system.log:
AppTapp Installer.app/Contents/Resources/iphonecomm: Could not perform SSL handshake\n

The strange thing is that the Customize tab in iNdependence itself seems to get SOME erratic access. For example, I was able to copy Installer.app to the phone and it worked. But when I want to delete it again, I get this:
"Failed - Couldn't connect to SSH server. Ensure IP address is correct, phone is connected to a network, and SSH is installed correctly."
BUT, strangely, despite the error, the app IS gone from the phone.
Then, I tried copying another app to the phone, got the same error, but this time it did not copy anything.

My goal is of course to upgrade to 1.1.1 and, like the other processes above, no luck without proper SSH. "Performing Pre-1.1.1 operations" ->
"Failed - Couldn't connect to SSH server. Ensure IP address is correct, phone is connected to a network, and SSH is installed correctly."

What to do? I tried rebooting the iPhone, uninstalling and reinstalling SSH. Nothing. Tried installing OpenSSH via Installer but that requires BSD subsystem, which is currently down. No luck either. This is not the first iPhone I work with, but the first time using 1.2.5. I read a few posts up something about SSH keys in my host file, apparently mentioned in the iNdependence readme? My ReadMe doesn't say anything about that, it's just a disclaimer and credits. Would appreciate any ideas...

    I need help!

I can unlock 2 phone before (all are 1.0.2 > Revirgin > Pre 1.1.1 > ....) , but now I stop in the first step, Activation, of the 3rd phone.

It said failed in Activation, then I want activate again, it said "Error, couldn't perform jailbreak. You need to downgrade to version 1.0.2, then perform the special upgrade to 1.1.1 (see Help documentation for more details)."

So I try to downgrade (Enter DFU mode) it again, it said "Error entering recovery mode."

I need use iTunes to RESTORE? or what can I do?
