    Default How to edit sms.db

    1. I downloaded the file sms.db and use SQLite Browser to open it. However, I cannot modify the data in the messages table, although I can for other tables.

Do you know why and/or have any solution?

    2. I don't understand the date format stored in the file. It's a long integer. How do you (manually) convert it to real dates and vice versa?

    3. I want to write a simple iPhone app that can manipulate the sms messages directly on the iPhone, e.g. sending a message to my own phone, editing the content of a message, etc. Do you know any similar app out there already?

    Thanks.
    DT

I found a relevant thread, having read it over at least 5 times during the last 2 days, but I still don't understand the solution.

Are you using Firfox? If so, search for the FF plugin SQLiteManager_0.3.10
Working for FF on Windows and Mac OS X.

hm,so i downloaded it, opend the database, but i wasnt able to edit the database.
i've created a SQL file with all the "insert into .." messages from the 1.1.4 files, removed the row_id of course (to not overwrite the old messages).

however, i always gets "no such function: read" error.
this is supposed to be something with the triggers (acordung to another thread), but i wasnt able to fix it.

so i guess there is no way into importing 1.1.4 messages into an already existig 2.0.0 table

The date is "the number of seconds since January 1st, 1970, 0:00 GMT". One way of converting it to a date is with a spreadsheet program like Excel. In one cell (A1) you put the date number, in another cell (A2) you put 1-1-1970 0:00 and then you make a third cell that calculates A2+(A1/24/3600). Then add or subtract hours to convert it to your time zone.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).
