How to ADD /var/root/bin to PATH?
Ok, I'm new at this, but I have managed to get myself to the point of trying to install Erica's Utilities. When I try to install the package, I get the "ADD /var/root/bin to PATH" notice. I hit the OK bar under the notice and nada. I'd be grateful if someone could give me step by step instructions for adding /var/root/bin to my PATH. I'm sure it's simple, but then, so am I.

open a term-vt100 session and type:
cd
echo "PATH=$PATH:/var/root/bin" >> .profile
echo "export PATH" >> .profile
close terminal session
check path is correct by typing:
echo $PATH

Thanks for the info deggs1

Thanks, deggs1. You almost have me there. After closing the terminal session, I checked path, and sure enough, I had /var/root/bin. I then installed Erica's Utilities but again got the add /var/root/bin to your PATH notice. Clearly I'm missing something here.
Help!

I think it's just telling you to do so if you haven't

Ah, so EVERYONE gets that ADD message even if the PATH is correct!
Second question then. WHERE would Erica's Utilities appear? No new icons have popped up on my home screen. For examples, where would I find VNotes if indeed it has been successfully installed?
Thanks.

presumably under the new path you added?

VNotes should appear with an icon on your screen, the utilities is a command line thing only so it's not going to have an icon. The VNotes app will be under the applications folder

Ah ha!! So there SHOULD be an icon on the screen for VNOTES. I understand the command line aspect and that EU itself will not have an icon, but a VNOTES icon not appearng on my screen or within my phone application is puzzling.

Did you install the utilities first? Did you shut down and restart the iPhone?
